ROLE PLAY 32. LOCAL RADIO PHONEIN
Эта игра очень полезна для тренировки и развития навыков
учащихся в использовании лексического материала, необходимого
для выражения и отстаивания своего мнения.
Тема радиопередачи может быть любая, звонки от «слушателей»
могут поступать с мобильных телефонов. Сначала учитель играет
роль диктора, но это может делать и ученик, если в группе есть
подходящая кандидатура. Каждый ученик должен принять участие
в радиопередаче.
При необходимости можно некоторым или всем дать свободный
выбор высказывания или заготовить “tips” в виде “you are… and in
favour of the proposal” или “you are a very old person… and against
the proposal”.
Темы должны содержать спорные моменты. Вы можете дать несколько выражений некоторым учащимся. В конце дискуссии ведущий обещает ознакомить руководство города с мнением участников программы.
Four topics: City authorities' plans to build:
1. a chemical plant in the suburbs of the city near the river and
the forest;
2. a casino near the school building;
3. a night club near an old people’s complex;
4. an airport on the outskirts of the city, where there is a hospi-
tal.

ROLE PLAY 33. A TALK ON SCHOOL TRIPS
Учителя и учащиеся часто совершают поездки в разные места.
Организация совместной поездки может быть темой для ролевой
игры и проходить в виде классного собрания учителей, родителей
и учащихся. Подготовьте только 6 карточек, остальные будут высказывать свое мнение в поддержку или против каких-либо идей.
Они могут ссылаться на собственный опыт, говоря об удачных и
не очень удачных поездках. Желательно, чтобы в конце «собрания»
прозвучало положительное мнение в поддержку идеи, что поездки
интересны и очень нужны.

Учитель открывает собрание, предлагая организовать очеред-
ную поездку, и просит присутствующих выразить свое мнение.
Те, у кого нет карточек, могут использовать выражения, напи-
санные на доске.

CARD 1
You are a 15-year-student. You like excursions when we visit dif-
ferent places or even towns. Even when we visited a factory, read
a magazine, or a newspaper, it was interesting to nd out some
new things. It is dierent to get to see such places personally. You
learned a lot, you think. Later you had lots of discussions with your
classmates.
CARD 2
You are a 34-year-old mother of 2 children. You don’t think school
trips are useful, because so much time is lost which could otherwise for real learning. Children can see all these things later on. It
is more important for students to study and work hard at
school.
CARD 3
You are a 29-year-old teacher. You hate school trips. There is a lot
of work and most students aren’t interested in anything anyway.
There are always discipline problems. Nowadays you can show
everything on TV or video, so why organize a trip?
CARD 4
You are a 15-year-old student. You don’t enjoy school trips. You
have to listen all the time or look at boring things or pictures, or
guess the name of plants which seems just like school again. The
teachers just want to show how much they know.
CARD 5
You are a 42-year-old father of 3 children. You think school trips
should be stopped. Most school trips cost a lot of money and
students aren’t very interested. You think teachers organize them
to get away from school for a day or two.

going to have a good time. There will be enough time for sports
but remember we are going to study … culture and to use the…
language as much as possible. Ask those present to think it over
and invite those who want to join you.
ROLE PLAY 34. ASTROLOGERS FORETELL
Для развития навыков употребления будущих времен очень подходит игра, которую можно назвать Astrologers Foretell, Astrologers
Predict или Fortune-tellers tell Fortunes.
Учащиеся распределяются по 2 группам, одна из которых —
астрологи. Они сидят по одному за своими партами, а желающие
узнать свое будущее посещают их один за другим.
Астрологи сначала узнают кое-какую информацию о посетителе
(как зовут, когда родился, кем работает и т. д.), затем начинают
свое предсказание будущего. Посетители могут задавать вопросы,
уточняя что-либо.
Они могут использовать следующие предсказания, употребляя
Future Simple, например, с такими выражениями:
I think you’ll have a win in the lottery.
I believe you’ll be successful in passing your exams, in love, at work,
in financial affairs.

Meet your favourite actor (singer, football player, etc.).
Предсказания могут быть серьезными (о будущей карьере), смешными, шутливыми (мне предсказали, что завтра у меня на уроке будет 3 ученика без дневников, а остальные без домашнего задания),
оптимистическими, пессимистическими, юмористическими.
Они могут касаться школьной жизни, учебы, отношений с родителями, учителями, одноклассниками, успехов в спорте, подарков и т.п.
Когда все посетители познакомятся с 5 или 6 предсказаниями,
каждый из них должен высказать свое мнение, оценить «работу
астрологов», рассказав, какие предсказания были желаемые, какие — нет (I would like the prediction… to come true, because… I am
sure that… It would be very good if… I am afraid that… If the prediction comes true, I’ll…)
ROLE PLAY 35. SO THAT WE COULD SURVIVE
Вымышленная ситуация такова: корабль идет ко дну. Недалеко
от вас небольшой остров. Чтобы выжить на необитаемом острове,
вы должны взять с собой в спасательную шлюпку (life-raft or lifeboat)
только 10 предметов, не считая одежды. Учитель решает, в какой
группе он будет давать список вещей (можно записать на доске),
ав какой — нет.

Эта игра дает возможность отработать употребление языкового
материала, необходимого для аргументации своего решения и подтверждения преимущества того или иного выбора.
Например:

we should take… For our well-being it’s necessary to have…
What’s the use of having… There’s no point in taking… In addition
to… I think we should take… First of all we should think about…
Обсуждение может иметь варианты:
1. Каждый ученик пишет свои 10 пунктов, потом в парах обсуж-
дают и приходят к единому мнению.
2. Класс можно распределить по 2 группам, и после обсуждения один сообщает выбор всей группы, а вторая группа или
поддержива ет, или отклоняет. В этом варианте вторая группа действует как судья.
3. Учащиеся могут обсудить проблему в трех группах и записать
на доске свой выбор. В этом случае на доске будет 3 варианта,
которые помогут определить наиболее важные вещи для жизни на
необитаемом острове.
Эта ролевая игра может иметь другие подобные задания.

Grammar input: Conditional sentences (Unreal Present)
1. Discuss what you should put into a suitcase if you went on a
holiday to the seaside (you will live on a campsite in a tent).
2. Discuss what things you need to take if you go abroad to visit
your relatives (If I went … I’d take).
3. What things should be taken if you went round the world in your
yacht?
4. What things would you put into your rucksack if your class went
on a three-day trip to the mountains?
5. What things should you take with you if you went on a picnic to
the forest?
ROLE PLAY 36. “WE ARE ARCHITECTS”
Эта игра проводится в трех группах, по 3–4 ученика в каждой.
Группа получает задание создать генеральный план (a project or a
map) нового поселения или района города, где будут жить рабочие
большого завода, выпускающего… Пока это только пространство,
большой участок земли. Учитель заготавливает для плана участка
3листа ватмана разме ром приблизительно 50 × 30 см. Каждая группа получает список зданий и список всего, что необходимо для жизни людей.
Лексика дана на иностранном языке, незнакомые слова поясняются (перевод или определение — учитель решит сам), что исключает вопросы и необходимость перевода. Нужно обозначить реку,
которая захватывает край листа, и зеленую зону.

Listen to your partners’ ideas. If you nd them unsuitable, propose
your option and present your argument(s). You must remember
that all the facilities should be convenient for people, not harmful
for their health and easy for them to use.
В каждой группе есть главный архитектор (chief architect), который утверждает окончательный вариант проекта. Он ничего не
предлагает, а только в конце одобряет или не одобряет проект (с
за мечаниями). Остальные 3 участника группы по очереди составляют план района. Защита проекта происходит с участием всей
группы.
Version 2
Это задание можно дать одной группе, а остальные заняты с
учителем другой работой. Выполнение этого задания — возможность усвоить материал, пропущенный кем-то по болезни или по
другой причине. Но в обсуждении проекта участвуют все.
Version 3
Учитель не дает список зданий и служб, а предлагает нарисовать
план района на листе с обозначенной рекой. Наверняка кое-что
будет упущено, и задача критиков — заметить это.
Учитель может организовать мини-дискуссию, используя следующую информацию:
Japanese architects have designed a two-kilometer house, which will
stand in the middle of Tokyo Bay. Ask the students what they think
about it. How many people do they think will live in it? (300,000).
How long will it take to get to the upper floor? (15 minutes) How many
floors will it have? (500) What kind of yard could such a house have?
What could be in the yard?
Will it be easy (interesting, difficult, problematic) to live in such a
dwelling-house?
Do you think it’s possible to call it a micro-town? What conveniences and facilities would need to be available for the disposal of the inhabitants?
Would you like to live in such a mega-building (huge dwelling
house)? Why?

Grammar: various tenses, Future actions by all means, Verbs which
are used both with the Infinitive and -ing forms, but have different
meanings.
Vocabulary: Go by plane (ship, train, bus). Would rather go… Had

Lake Baikal, the Lake District in England, and walking tours in places
where there are lots of ancient castles, historic places, etc.
CARD 1
You prefer having holidays in a peaceful place, warm, uncrowded,
unpolluted. You are fond of swimming and lying in the sun on a
sandy beach. Excursions to some interesting places can add some
charm to your holiday.
CARD 2
You are an energetic person, full of ideas for an active rest in a
picturesque or romantic place. No matter what kind of accommodation it might be, you are not fussy about food, and easily
adapt to various conditions. The only "must" in your holiday is
sports facilities.
CARD 3
You are very much interested in historic places because after
school you are going to study archaeology, or the history of the
Middle Ages and art. You have nished your exams and are looking forward to a normal holiday. You will be quite happy to lie on
a warm beach (sometimes).

You are so tired after long working hours for 4 months that any
rest will do, but not very adventurous or expensive. You need good
