As
As – в качестве; раз уж; как; в роли; от того, что; в
связи с тем, что; чем; по мере; выступающий в конкретной функции или выполняющий конкретную работу.
As может быть не только предлогом, но и другими ча-
стями речи. Например, союзом.

As используем в том случае, если за ним следует под-
лежащее с глаголом, который обычно является сказуемым
(as + существительное или местоимение + глагол)
I will do this work as you showed me.
Я сделаю эту работу как ты показал мне.
As необходим, когда мы говорим о том, что кто-то кем-
то работает, в конструкции as + существительное
She has worked as a secretary for three years.
Она проработала секретарем три года (в качестве секре-
таря).
As для целевого назначения предметов (в качестве)
в конструкции as + существительное
You mustn’t use your gas stove as a heater.

As используется в комбинациях as if / as though, что-
бы указать на предполагаемое (реальное) сходство предметов, ситуаций.
The music sounded as if / as though they were playing
untuned instruments.
Музыка звучала так, будто они играли на расстроенных
инструментах.
Если мы говорим о ситуациях, которые заведомо не со-
ответствуют реальности, то можно использовать прошедшее
время после as if/ as though. Использование прошедшего
времени обусловлено сослагательным наклонением второго
типа (Subjunctive II).

They have captured and imprisoned him, as though he were
