1. Возвратные и усилительные местоимения образуются
прибавлением ударного окончания -self (во множествен-
ном числе -selves) к притяжательным местоимениям my,
our, your и личным местоимениям в объектном падеже
him, her, it, them.

2. В качестве возвратных местоимений все эти местоимения
соответствуют русской частице -ся (-сь), присоединяемой
к глаголам для придания им возвратного значения, а так-

5. Возвратные местоимения могут употребляться в значе-
нии усилительных местоимений, соответствующих рус-
ским местоимениям сам, сама, само, сами. В предложе-
нии они могут стоять либо в конце предложения, либо
непосредственно после выделяемого интонацией слова.
I’ll do it myself.
Я сделаю это`сам.
Please do it `yourself, sonny.
Пожалуйста, сделай это сам, сынок.
I myself heard it.
Я сам это слышал.
6. Следует запомнить следующие идиоматические выраже-
ния, в которых употребляются возвратные местоимения:
Enjoy yourselves! Развлекайтесь!

Help yourself to sweets! Угощайся конфетами!

1. Each other относится обычно к двум лицам или предме-
там, а one another, когда число лиц или предметов боль-
ше, чем два.
Однако особенно в живой разговорной речи часто имеют место отступления от упомянутого правила, когда взаимные местоимения each other и one another употребляют без вся­ких различий.
They love each other.
Они любят друг друга.
Brothers and sisters look after each other.
Братья и сестры присматривают друг за другом.
The children were always quarrelling with one another.
Дети вечно ссорились друг с другом.

this (these), that (those).

в непосредственной близости к говорящему.

I’m seeing Tom this Sunday.

4. В ответах на общие или специальные вопросы, содержа-
щие this или that, употребляется местоимение it.

It is a memo. Записка.
5. Местоимения these (эти), those (те), употребляющиеся в
вопросительных предложениях, заменяются на they в от-
ветах на эти вопросы.

No, they are not. Нет.
What are these? Что это?
They are electric kettles. Это электрические чайники.

1. Местоимение who употребляется в предложении, когда
речь идет о людях и соответствует русским вариантам
кто или кого.

2. Who может употребляться с любым из предлогов, выра-
жая значение русского местоимения кто во всех косвен-
ных падежах. При этом предлог ставится в конце вопроса.

Who are you speaking of? О ком вы говорите?
Who are you looking for? Кого вы ищете?
Если предлог стоит в начале предложения (formal English), то после него употребляется форма whom.

1. Местоимение what в значении что, какой, каков употре-
бляется обычно по отношению к неодушевленным пред-
метам.
