1. Местоимение some (несколько, немного, некоторые) упо-
требляется как с исчисляемыми так и с неисчисляемыми
существительными. Some и его производные something
(что-то, что-нибудь, что-либо), somebody (кто-то, кто-ни-
будь, кто-либо), someone (кто-то, кто-нибудь, кто-либо),
somewhere (где-то, где-нибудь, куда-нибудь) обычно упо-
требляются в утвердительных предложениях.
There is some milk in the bottle.
В бутылке есть немного молока.
I have something to tell you.
Я хочу тебе кое-что сказать.
2. Однако они могут быть использованы и в вопроситель-
ных структурах для выражения просьбы, предложения.
Would you like something to eat?

3. Местоимения some и any перед существительными во
множественном числе и перед неисчисляемыми суще-
ствительными часто на русский язык не переводятся.

1. Местоимение any (несколько, немного, какие-нибудь)
употребляется как с исчисляемыми, так и с неисчис-
ляемыми существительными. Any и его производные
(anybody – кто-либо, anything – что-либо, anywhere –
где-либо, anyone – кто-то) обычно употребляются в во-
просительных и отрицательных предложениях.
I’m glad that you haven’t any problems with your studies.
Я рад, что у тебя нет никаких проблем с учебой.
Has anybody called me?
Мне кто-нибудь звонил?
2. Any и его производные могут употребляться в утверди-
тельных конструкциях в следующих ситуациях:
• в значении любой, всякий, что-угодно, где-угодно и т.д.
Anyone can tell you her name.
Кто-угодно может сказать тебе ее имя.
You may take anything you like.
Ты можешь взять все что хочешь.
• в придаточных предложениях после if.
I wonder if they found anybody there.
Интересно, нашли ли они там кого-нибудь.
Let me know if you have any trouble.

1. Местоимение no употребляется как с исчисляемыми су-
ществительными в форме единственного и множествен-
ного числа, так и с неисчисляемыми существительными
в единственном числе. No имеет следующие производ-
ные: nobody, no one – никто, nothing – ничто, nowhere –
нигде. Так как местоимения имеют отрицательное значе-
ние, то глагол-сказуемое в предложении должен стоять в
утвердительной форме.
I’ve heard nothing about this man.
Я ничего не слышал об этом человеке.
When they entered the room, they saw nobody there.
Когда они вошли в комнату, то никого там не увидели.
2. Когда nobody и nothing служат подлежащим, то гла-
гол-сказуемое ставится в единственном числе.
Nobody has seen him since Sunday.
Никто не видел его с воскресенья.
There is nothing personal in the note.
В этой записке нет ничего личного.
3. После местоимений nobody и no one не употребляется
предлог of. Выражение никто из (нас, вас, них, рабочих
и т.д.) переводится на английский язык с помощью
структуры none of.
None of the tourists were injured.
Никто из туристов не пострадал.

1. Местоимения many и much употребляются в значении
много. Местоимение many употребляется с исчисляемы-
ми именами существительными во множественном чис-
ле, местоимение much – с неисчисляемыми именами су-
ществительными в единственном числе.
2.
Местоимения much и many употребляются преимуществен-
но в отрицательных и вопросительных предложениях.
Do we have much time before the train?
У нас есть много времени до отправления поезда?
They didn’t buy many things at that trade center.
Они купили немного вещей в этом торговом центре.
3. Если many или much выступают в функции подлежаще-
го, то они могут употребляться в утвердительном предло-
жении.
Much was said about this event.
Много было сказано об этом событии.
4. Местоимения many и much могут также употребляться
в утвердительном предложении, если они определяются
словами:

а) вместо many употребляют выражения a good number of, a great number of; a large number of.

б) вместо much употребляют a great deal (of), a good quantity (of); a large amount of.
A great amount of money was spent on charity.

в) выражения a lot (of), lots (of), plenty (of) употребляют­ся равнозначно как с исчисляемыми, так и с неисчисляемы­ми существительными.

Few, a few / Little, a little
Few \ little – мало и недостаточно для чего-то
1. Местоимения few и little переводятся на русский язык
как мало и имеют отрицательное значение. Few упо-
требляется перед исчисляемыми существительными, а
little – перед неисчисляемыми. Эти местоимения редко
употребляются в утвердительных предложениях при не-
официальных беседах. То же значение (мало) передают
обычно при помощи отрицательных конструкций not
many, not much.
He is a man of few words.
Он немногословный человек.
Be quick! We have little time before the train.
Поторопись! У нас мало времени до отправления поезда.
I haven’t got much work to do today.
У меня сегодня мало работы.
There are not many new houses here.
Здесь мало новых домов.
2. Местоимения few и little могут употребляться в утверди-
тельном предложении, если они определяются словами:
