Infinitive as Subject

В этой функции английскийИнфинитивинфинитивфункциина русскийподлежащегоязык переводится существительным или глаголом в неопределенной форме.

e.g.: To study at this faculty is difficult. – .Учиться на этом факультете трудно. To think of it helps me to be merry Мысль об этом помогает мне быть веселым.

Примечание. Использование инфинитива в речи в функции подлежащего носит официальный характер. Поэтому чаще всего в речи употребляется конструкция:

Tofinishwhatyoustartedisadvisable.–Закончитьто,чтотыначал,–целесообразно. ПриIt’s advisableэтом возможноto finishуказаниеwhat youнаstartedдеятеля. – Целесообразно: закончить то, что ты начал.
