(A43) ___US nowadays claims to be one of the leading countries to outsource jobs internationally. The rapidly developing economy of the US is in a constant need of human resources. Traditionally, the list of countries to outsource jobs to, includes such countries as India, Russia, China, Philippines, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Belarus and some others.

(A44) ___While choosing a certain country, to outsource jobs to, many Americans are guided by the advice of their friends and colleagues, or by the common belief that India is the best country for outsourcing. However, India is not the only option here. Better to say, for the US companies India is not the best country for outsourcing processes.

(A45) ___First of all, USA and India are countries with an absolutely opposite culture. The most obvious oppositions between India and the USA are the following: East-West, collectivistic-individ- ualistic, time is abundant-time is money, deadlines are offend- ing-working to deadlines, indefinite-definite and some other peculiarities. This is by no means to say, that India is a bad country with a bad culture. There is no such definition as a bad culture. It is just different, and it is not always easy for an American to understand the mentality of an average Indian. Although India possesses a great pool of highly skilled workers, the problems which mostly arise concern the communication sphere.

(A46) ___One of the “good” countries for the US to outsource jobs to is Belarus. Located in the geographical center of Europe, Belarus is a great choice for those who need their tasks done promptly and effectively. The country possesses a great potential and specialists in various fields, with nearly every second person having a higher education.

(A47) ___The number of offshore and IT companies in Minsk, the capital, is overwhelming. Indeed, most of the IT companies, located in the country are outsourcing. All of the graduates of higher

101

education speak at least one foreign language, most often English. The IT professionals almost all speak decent English and are constantly upgrading their language skills. Formerly a collectivistic country, Belarus has quickly grown individualistic in the last fifteen years with all the values of the western mind.

(A48) ___As long as the economy of Belarus is only developing, you will be surprised to find out that the outsourcing firms offer great cost-reduction plans. It is not only the low prices, but also the high quality of the services, which attracts customers from the USA, who already outsource jobs to Belarus. The business relationships in Belarus are based on trust, teamwork and technology. Also, it should be noted that the time-zone, in which the country is situated, is much more favorable for outsourcing jobs than Indian or Chinese. Some of the businesses even offer almost full business-hours time overlap with the USA. Outsource jobs to Belarus, and you will get the quality of services at a reasonable price.

(1)Maksim Bogdanovich is a famous Belarusian poet, journalist and literary critic. He was born in 1891 in Minsk to the family of a scientist. Soon after his birth the family moved to Grodno where his mother died of tuberculosis. Life was never easy for the family. The poet’s father, Adam Bogdanovich moved to Nizhny Novgorod, Russia with his children. It was at that time that Maksim wrote his first poems in the Belarusian language.

(2)During the Russian Revolution 14-year-old Maksim actively participated in workers’ strikes. Two years later his first published work came out of print. Afterwards, the young poet’s family moved again, to Yaroslavl this time, where Maksim graduated from school. After that he made a memorable trip to Belarus to meet important figures of the Belarusian Renaissance.

(3)In 1911, Bogdanovich began to study law at a lyceum in Yaroslavl. During his years at the establishment, he also worked for a newspaper and wrote numerous works of literature published in both Belarus and Russia. His famous book of poems, Vianok, was soon published. Yet the poet’s health failed him. In February 1917 he began what became his last traveling – to the Crimea, in a desperate attempt to stop tuberculosis. However, the treatment proved unsuccessful, and several months later Maksim Bogdanovich died in Yalta.

(4)Though only 25 at the time of his death, the poet had produced by then dozens of poems which rank as the highest and most courageous lyrics in Belarusian literature. More so, he helped Belarusian literature reach the international level. His original poetry is exceptional. It includes both the fairy-tale realm of goblins, water-sprites and pixies, and expressions of real pain for the people. One can find popular songs, exquisite classic forms, and poems portraying antiquity in his heritage.

(5)The poet’s papers were kept at his father’s house, but the collection was heavily damaged during the Civil War. In the early 1990s, the complete works of Maksim Bogdanovich were published in Belarus. Nowadays there are museums dedicated to his life and work located in

108

Minsk, Grodno and Yaroslavl. Several streets in major Belarusian and Russian cities are named after him.

(A43) ___Being a rather small country, landlocked and relatively flat, Belarus can’t but attract one’s attention. In terms of physical geography, the country contains large tracts of marshy land and enormous green areas. According to 2005 estimate by the United Nations, 40% of Belarus is covered by forests.

(A44) ___Bialowieza Forest is an ancient woodland located in Poland and Belarus. It is the only remaining part of the immense forest which once spread across the European Plain. It is home to many species extinct elsewhere, for instance the world famous European Bison, the largest mammal living in the wild in Europe, lynx, wolves, wild boar and elk as well as other threatened wildlife and plants.

(A45) ___The Bialowieza Forest is a priceless spot of lowland European forests where we can still observe how European forest ecosystems function without human interference. There are a great number of species (both animal and plant) that Bialowieza can boast of, including spruce as high as 55 meters, and oaks 40 meters high, which adds up to the biological diversity of the forest. Yet approximately 90% of the forest remains unprotected.

(A46) ___The National Park, which takes up only a part of the ancient woodland, was included into the network of Biosphere Reserves
