A It is an art style that is intentionally non-representational because it doesn’t try to look like anything from the “real world”. The subject of the painting is the colours used, the textures in the artwork, the materials used to create it. Artists working in this style feel that paintings do not have to show only things that are recognizable. In their paintings they do not try to show people, animals, or places exactly as they appear in the real world. They mainly use colour and shape in their paintings to show emotions. Early pioneers of this painting school are Kandinsky and Delaunay who experimented with colour, shapes and symbols.
B It is a kind of modern art which is not supposed to look real. Artists use geometric shapes to show what they are trying to paint. Early artists of this school used mainly greys, browns, greens, and yellows. After 1914 they started to use brighter colours. The famous artist of this school is known to be Pablo Picasso.
C Paintings of this style are generally based on dreams. They are filled with familiar objects which are painted to look strange or mysterious. Artists working in this style hope that their odd paintings would make people look at things in a different way and change the way they feel about things. They think that their paintings might stir up feelings in the back of people’s minds. The celebrated artist of this school is Salvador Dali.
D Artists working in this style use small dots or strokes of paint to make up the pictures. From far away, these dots blend together to form the picture and give the impression of different colours as they blend together. The most celebrated and famous artist of this school is considered to be Paul Seurat.
E It is a school of painting that initially focused on work done, not in studios, but outdoors. The artworks of this style demonstrate that human beings do not see objects, but instead see light itself. Artists show every flickering change of light and flitting moment. The most celebrated and famous artist of this school is considered to be Claude Monet.
