Traveling and going through formalities

We arrived at the airport. Mike got a trolley and we went to the departure lounge. We looked at the departure board to see if our flight was boarding yet. Then we went to our gate.

There were some formalities we had to go through. Mike and I filled in declaration forms. In a declaration form I indicated the kind of valuables and the amount of currency I had on me. Then we went through passport control. The travelers have their passports and visas checked there. Next we went to the customs area. The customs officer asked the question, “Have you got anything to declare?” I answered that everything I had was for my own use only. I said I did not carry anything for sale or anything that was not allowed free, that is anything that was liable to duty. Our luggage was weighed and labeled then. The customs officer inspected my luggage and I was allowed to the public area.

We went to the duty-free shop. Mike bought a box of sweets and two cokes. In twenty minutes we were invited to the plane. Passengers boarded the plane, and some time later the plane took off. We reached our destination in time.
