Taras Khraban, grade 11 April, 2003 from the history of my school

Hello! My name is Nazar. I study in school # 11. I am a pupil of the 8B grade. I want to tell you about the history of my school.

My school was built in 1994. It was being built during 9 months. The opening ceremony of my school was on the twelfth of April, 1994. The builders of my school were Bulgarians and Germans. Germans gave our school about 400 DM only for flowers and plants. The first two years there were no technical equipment in my school. Doors and windows were imported from Italy, the furniture and all the sanitary engineering were imported from Bulgaria, the blackboards were imported from Germany. In 1996 two TV-sets and videos were bought for our school.

There are 27 forms in my school. 817 pupils study in it. And there are 54 teachers in school. We learn different languages: French, German, Polish and Russian. Every year many pupils take part in Olympiads. And it’s great! Nine years ago in 1994 there were a lot of circles: technique circles, sport sections, embroidery and pottery circles, also dancing and chorus groups. But now only some of them are left in my school. Pupils in my school study English since the first grade, but in other schools of my town pupils study English since their second grade. In 1999 we have got a status of a specialized school with advanced English. There were also a lot of guests in my school from other cities of Ukraine, also from Germany, Luxembourg, Finland, Poland and of course from the U.S.A. Today in our school we have a volunteer from the Peace Corp. Her name is Veronika. I think, my school is the best in my town. In the morning we always listen to the National Anthem in our school and have our own. We have very strict rules in our school, but after the eleventh form you will be a very clever and disciplined person.

So! You are WELOME to school #11. Bye! See you later.

My school’s traditions

Hello! My name is Katya. I study in school # 11. I am a pupil of the 8B grade. My school has not a very long history. In 1994 it was built by Bulgarians and Germans. In 1996 I went to my first grade. About my school I can tell very much. But I want to tell you about my school traditions. So, on the first of September we go to school. We have the First Bell. All the pupils of our school are gathered in the school yard. We listen to the National Anthem and School Anthem. After that the Principle of our school says something, presents with diplomas and we all go to our classrooms. In the classrooms we have a special lesson. On the first Sunday of October we have Teachers Day. In the morning in school music is played. All pupils congratulate teachers and give flowers. Also we have the Subjects Weeks. Each week has their peculiarities. For example, on the week of Ukrainian Language and Literature in the foyer we can see portraits of famous poets and their sayings. In the assembly hall we have a party devoted to different poets. But my favorite week is English week. All pupils prepare for that week. During the week beautiful pictures of pupils of our school are exhibited, usually, on Wednesday we have a nice Christmas fair. Many sweets and cakes are sold. Everyday there are concerts, competitions and games. At the end of December we have a New Year party. In the beginning of the party we have a little show and a disco after that. Also we celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. All pupils and teachers have their numbers. Pupils can send congratulations each other, even teachers. After that we have a disco party. On the 8th of March we have Women’s Day. All men and boys congratulate teachers and girls. And the main tradition is to celebrate our School’s Birthday. It’s on the 12 of April. During a big interval we have a Fair. In the evening we have a great concert devoted to our school’s Birthday. And at the end of May we have the Last Bell Ceremony. It’s a real holiday for all pupils! In general, I like my school very much!
