Hi! My name’s Vika. I live in Novohrad-Volynsky. I go to the collegium. I’m a pupil of the seventh form. I like studying. I think I am gifted for languages especially English. That’s why I want to tell you about foreign languages in my life. At first I’ll tell you about my school.

In 1998 I crossed a line between a kindergarten and a school. I remember that day, I understood what school, and independence and studies were. School years are the happiest years in our lives. And we should value them. Last year our secondary school was reorganized into a collegium. And this year our collegium is 10 years old. Our school has reached many things for ten years but some schools can’t do it for even longer period. Our school was built in 1994. Many people built it - Germans, Bulgarians, Ukrainians, Russians and others.

At our school we learn many different subjects such as English, German, History, Algebra, Biology, Physics, Music, Drawing, Ukrainian and Ukrainian Literature, Labor Training, Geography and others. Nearly all lessons are rather interesting, but I like English best of all because we talk, discuss different questions, make dialogues at these lessons. At our English lessons we deal with difficult but at the same time interesting textbooks. In the first, second and third forms we had easy English textbooks. But in the fifth, sixth and seventh forms we had more difficult textbooks: WOW (window on the world). And together with this textbook we have another one by Plakhotnyk.

There are many teachers in our school, who teach us. My English teacher is Olena Oleksiyivna. She is very kind and good. The lessons with her are very splendid. Olena Oleksiyivna is my teacher from the first form.

At our English lessons we do more exercises orally than in writing. That’s why we read a lot, make dialogues, make up questionnaires, play games, write compositions on different topics, learn grammar and also do many various exercises. I love listening to people speaking English. We work in pairs a lot, sometimes in groups. For example, we make dialogues, make questionnaires, and discuss problems; many quizzes, Olympiads, contests and other interesting and exciting events are held. Last year during foreign languages week we had a game, that was called “Merry Train” and the team of our group was called “Love is…”. It’s a pity but we took only the third place. We wanted to win.

In future I want to be an interpreter, because it is a well-paid job and I like it. And I want to be an interpreter, because I like it. And I want to be an interpreter, because I like talking to people from other countries in English because I believe it’s an exciting – sounding language. I don’t have problems as studying English and I have gained some success. For example, this year I’ve got a Diploma in English. I took the third place in school Olympiad and I was happy. But the main success is that I know English well for my age. And I’ll do my best to know it better.

So, foreign languages are very important in our life, because if you don’t know at least one foreign language, you won’t find a well-paid job. But if you know foreign languages, the whole world will be opened to you.
