The present perfect continuous tense

НАСТОЯЩЕЕ ПЕРФЕКТНО-ДЛИТЕЛЬНОЕ ВРЕМЯ

Настоящее перфектно-длительное время сочетает в себе значение перфекта и длительного действия.

ОБРАЗОВАНИЕ

Для образования этой грамматической формы используется вспомогательный глагол to be в форме Present Perfect (то есть форма have been для местоимений I, you, we they и форма has been для местоимений he, she, it) и причастие I (Participle I) смыслового глагола для всех лиц и чисел:

I, you, we, they have been doing something

He, she, it has been doing something

I have been going; we have been studying; they have been sleeping; you have been reading; he has been doing; she has been cooking; it has been raining

УПОТРЕБЛЕНИЕ

1. Для выражения длительного действия, которое началось в прошлом, продолжалось в прошлом, и продолжается сейчас.

– What are you doing here?

– I am waiting to talk to the teacher. I have been waiting for almost 20 minutes but he is still busy.

I think it’s time to wake the baby up. It has been sleeping for 4 hours already.

В этом значении глагол в the Present Perfect Continuous может быть взаимозаменяем на глагол в the Present Perfect, хотя the Present Perfect Continuous выражает длительность действия более эмоционально.

We have studied English for three years. = We have been studying English for three years.

Однако с глаголами, которые не могут использоваться в Continuous, необходимо использовать только the Present Perfect:

I have known him for 5 years.

They have been friends since childhood.

В этом значении the Present Perfect Continuous также употребляется с предлогами for, который показывает, как долго уже длится действие и since, который обозначает момент начала действия в прошлом, а также со следующими обстоятельствами времени (time-indicators):

since He has been learning the poem since I came home.

for Mary has been doing her lessons for two hours already.

all day long The cat has been sleeping all day long.

the whole month I have been looking for this book the whole month.

Если в момент речи действие, выраженное сказуемым, еще продолжается, то глагол в the Present Perfect Continuous переводится на русский язык глаголом несовершенного вида настоящего времени (что делает?)

2. Чтобы подчеркнуть, что хотя длительное действие только что закончилось, результат его налицо. В таком случае глагол в the Present Perfect Continuous переводится на русский язык глаголом несовершенного вида в прошедшем времени (что делал?)

– What’s the matter? Why are you out of breath?

– I have been running all the way.

What’s the smell? Have you been smoking here?
