TEXT A
There Is no Time Like Tomorrow
It is seven o'clock. It is time for Alex Lavrov to get up. His wife is already in the kitchen. She is an early-riser. She usually gets up at half past six. While she is making break-fast Alex goes downstairs to get his morning newspapers.
Alex finishes breakfast and goes to the bus-stop. It is just opposite his block of flats. He usually goes to work by bus. Generally it takes him half an hour to get to work. So Alex usually leaves home at a quarter to eight. But sometimes he walks to the factory. Alex's working day begins at half past eight. But Alex usually gets to work at a quarter past eight. Alex is never late for work.
Now Alex is in his office. He is studying his diary. There is a conference at a quarter to ten. They are going to discuss the work schedule. He must write his report now. Then Alex must look through the incoming documents. He can do it in the afternoon. At half past twelve he has an appointment with his boss. They must talk over the specifications for new equipment. What else? English classes! They start at five. And Alex isn't ready for his classes. "Never mind", Alex thinks, "I can do something during the lunch break".
It is half past nine. Alex is at home at last. He is having supper. After supper he is going to listen to the 10 o'clock news. Then he is going to get down to his English. But Alex is too sleepy. He isn't going to listen to the 10 o'clock news. And English can wait until tomorrow. After all, there is no time like tomorrow. Alex goes to bed. It's ten o'clock exactly.
