Acts of cruelty from "white" culture

Having been told that my refusal to condemn Asians (an inaccurate blanket term) outright for of eating cats and dogs (as opposed to condemning the avoidable cruelty) makes me a disgrace to "whites", those critics (who are primarily racist rather than being entirely concerned with animal-welfare) should consider the following acts of cruelty from "white" culture:-

Hare-coursing where live hares are often ripped apart like Christmas crackers by two greyhounds; hunting with hounds where the live fox is similarly torn to shreds by as many hounds as can fix their jaws on the fox (dogs do not kill by neck-bite - they disembowel their prey, as can be seen in video footage and stills). Those animals which do escape are likely to be so physiologically damaged that they will not survive.

Bullfighting, bronco-busting (both legal in some countries), dog-fighting, cock-fighting and badger-baiting (generally illegal, but occur nonetheless).

Battery chickens, veal crates, long-distance transportation of livestock across Europe without rest, food or water; gavage (force-feeding) of geese to produce foie gras; bleeding-to-death of unstunned livestock, other intensive farming practices and high-throughput slaughter methods.

The use of Draize eye tests, LD50 tests and carcinogen tests on laboratory animals for testing vanity products (cosmetics).

Conditions found in fur farms and, in many countries, in trapping with leg-hold traps (gin traps).

Acts of individual cruelty in the USA where live dogs, cats and other small domestic pets have been microwaved and live kittens thrown onto barbecues. In some cases, the judicial system seems unable to pass punitive sentences on the perpetrators.

In addition many other gratuitously cruel practices litter "white" recent history: bear-baiting, horse-fighting, pig-sticking, the hurling of cats (also goats) from towers.

У Китаї штрафуватимуть за вживання м'яса собак

У Китаї прийнято законопроект, який передбачає покарання у вигляді штрафу в 5 тисяч юанів (735 доларів США) за вживання в їжу м'яса собак і кішок. Крім того, законопроект, який протягом чотирьох місяців обговорювався широкою громадськістю, також передбачає утримання під вартою 15 діб, пише газета Хуанцю шибао. Продавцям "делікатесного" м'яса може загрожувати ще більш суворе покарання - за реалізацію м'яса собак і кішок загрожує штраф у розмірі від 10 до 500 тисяч юанів (1470 - 73530 доларів). Водночас, видання не уточнює, з якого моменту новий закон про захист тварин може набути чинності.

Традиція вживання в їжу м'яса собак і кішок широко поширена в окремих регіонах КНР. М'ясо собак, яке в південно-китайської провінції Гуандун називають ароматним м'ясом, продають на продуктових ринках поряд з обробленою свининою та яловичиною. На пташиному ринку в адміністративному центрі провінції місті Гуанчжоу до недавнього часу можна було зустріти собак у клітках, яких продавці ділили на "їстівні" і призначені для утримання будинку. Нове правило викликало хвилю гарячих обговорень у китайському сегменті інтернету. Прихильники зазначають, що вживання в їжу м'яса собак і кошів є давньою кулінарною традицією окремих регіонів Азії. За їхніми словами, м'ясо собак за природою своєю мало чим відрізняється від свинини і яловичини.

Захисники тварин, любителі собак та котів, виступають з прямо протилежними заявами. Час від часу китайські ЗМІ публікують інформацію про те, що в окремих регіонах країни любителі тварин врятували сотні котів, призначених для продажу в ресторани.
