Preface
Inulin is a versatile biopolymer for Pharmaceutical Applications and is a compre-
hensive guide for scientists, researchers, and pharmaceutical professionals inter-
ested in understanding the various applications of inulin in the pharmaceutical
industry. This book explores the different uses of inulin in pharmaceutical formula-
tions, its potential therapeutic benets, and the regulatory considerations involved
in developing inulin-based pharmaceutical products.
The book is divided into several chapters, each concentrating on a specic aspect
of inulin in pharmaceutical applications. The initial chapters introduce inulin, its
properties, and its use in the pharmaceutical industry. It covers inulin’s physical and
chemical properties and their applications in drug delivery, controlled release sys-
tems, and biocompatible materials.
The subsequent chapters explore the use of inulin in different therapeutic appli-
cations, comprising its potential to manage metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal
disorders, immune function, bone health, and brain health. Each chapter covers the
current research on the therapeutic potential of inulin, the mechanisms of action,
and the potential for future therapies.
Another important chapter in the book is the regulatory aspect of inulin-based
pharmaceutical products. This chapter explores an overview of the regulatory agen-
cies responsible for the approval of pharmaceutical products, the guidelines for
developing inulin-based pharmaceutical products, and the quality control and qual-
ity assurance of inulin-based pharmaceutical products.
The book aims to provide a complete understanding of the various applications
of inulin in the pharmaceutical industry, from drug delivery to therapeutic effects. It
is relevant and signicant for pharmaceutical professionals who are looking to
develop new drugs, better drug delivery systems, and improve the efcacy and
safety of pharmaceutical products.
The book is also relevant to researchers and scientists working on inulin-based
treatments and formulations. It provides a wealth of information on the current
research on inulin and its therapeutic potential, and the regulatory considerations
involved in developing and marketing inulin-based pharmaceutical products.
Overall, Inulin: A Versatile Biopolymer for Pharmaceutical Applications sets out
to solve the problem of the need for more comprehensive information on the differ-
ent uses of inulin in the pharmaceutical world. The book thoroughly explores the
vi
various applications of inulin, its therapeutic potential, and the regulatory consider-
ations involved in developing inulin-based pharmaceutical products.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Honorable Founder-
President Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF)
and Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Madhya Pradesh. We are
thankful to Honorable Pro-Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd.), Amity
University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, India, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) Prof.
