One of the recent language applications that students explored and named as effective because of a great number of positive responses that it received is Memrise (www.memrise.com).
It is a vocabulary learning platform which combines science, fun, and community. The users of this app grow a so called garden of memory. Special flashcards and mneumonics help learners to create learning strategies and reinforce learning. The users are encouraged to nurture the knowledge they acquire and use this knowledge in their everyday lives. Besides helping in language acquisition Memrise offers various courses on Arts and Literature, History and Geography, Entertainment , the Natural World, etc. Since 2011 Memrise has taught more than 600 million words, phrases and facts to 1.3 million people in 499 languages.
A real discovery for the students was Padagogy Wheel (www.unity.net.au/padwheel/padwheelposterV3). Padagogy Wheel was created by Allan Carrington (www.unity.net.au/allansportfolio/edublog/), from the University of Adelaide for iPads in education. It uses Bloom‘s Taxonomy (1956) which was revised in 2007 to provide digital activites for each Cognitive process in Higher Order thinking or in Lower Order of thinking. Picture 1 below matches digital activities with more that 60 mobile interactive applications. Some of them, such as Facebook, Twitter, Scype, Wordpress are widespread and very popular. Others are to be probed and assessed. Picture 1.

It should be mentioned that most apps on the Padagogy Wheel are produced for native speakers but they could be just as beneficial for speakers of a foreign language. For example, apps such as Skype or FaceTime will allow the learner to have conversations in the language they're learning provided they know some native speakers or fellow students.
Discussing the teaching implications of using mobile technologies we should mention
the following:
- while mobile devices can support self-directed learning and language learner autonomy, the role of teachers is equally important.
- mobile-assisted language learning is not simply the transfer of current teaching and learning materials and practices to a mobile device, but a complete reconceptualisation of these.
- existing mobile applications have yet to catch up with this idea, often transmitting content rather than exploiting opportunities for communication and collaboration.
- these devices are not instructors but rather instructional tools. Conclusion
The questions on mobile learning issues that were discussed with the pre-service EFL teachers made them aware of the existing challenges and encouraged them to apply new ideas and techniques in their own language acquisition practice as well as to consider application of those new ideas in the setting of their own classroom practice.
Mobile language apps that were explored showed their great potential for language learning as they are interactive by nature, open the classroom to the global Internet community, enable the creation and sharing of content, and support meaningful communication and knowledge building but the critical success factor for mobile apps is good pedagogy, technology and design. Whereas some apps have an attractive design, they may lack in pedagogically sound principles behind that design. It is very unlikely that apps will provide all the solutions a student needs for language learning. The solution is a combination of mobile technologies with a variety of teaching styles, from the repetitive grammar drills to the gamified all-in-one solutions. Only the learners will know which ones will work for them. It is up to them to download, try, and work out which is best for their needs. The teachers‘ responsibility will be to provide professional guidance based on reliable research and practical experience.

(http://www.englishteacherjohn.com/podcast). Такие программы включают традиционные задания по аудированию.
Methodology
136
Podcasts, служащие основой для проведения занятия по английскому
(http://www.breakingnewsenglish.com).
What’s more, it gives pupils who

were in the classroom the chance to listen again to what the teacher said on a topic, to recheck those notes and make sure, as well as to make it easier for non-English native speakers to re-listen to a lesson without the distractions that may make instant translation difficult the first time around. A decent podcast can also mean that you can cover the basics without wasting classroom time. The simple delivery of the facts of a lesson in a podcast frees up the lesson itself for more detailed work – or, conversely, can provide the extra detail that takes some pupils off into other directions that a simple lesson can’t contain [Leach, 2006].
Исследователи считают, что возможность самостоятельно записывать podcasts важна изучающим английский язык для развития умений говорения [Adams, 2006;
Shaw, 2005].
Methodology

DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO ERROR TREATMENT
Pavlova L.V.

Summary:
Errors are an integral part of the language learning process. The phenomenon of error has long interested researchers. Traditionally they are regarded as deviation from the standard
language, reflecting learner‘s inadequacy of language competence. With the development of Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Psychology and other relevant fields, scholar‘s attitude
towards errors has changed greatly. Instead of being a problem to be overcome, errors are believed to be evidence of the learners‘ stages in their target language development.
Keywords / phrases: errors, error typology, target language, interlanguage, Second Language Acquisition, Contrastive Analysis, Error Analysis
Errors are a widespread phenomenon and an integral part of the language learning process. Nowadays they are studied in two aspects: errors made by native speakers in their mother tongue and errors made by foreign language learners. Up to the second half of the 20th century, they were regarded as deviation from the standard language, reflecting learner‘s inadequacy of language competence. Nonstandard forms were to be prevented and eradicated at all costs, as they were the main criterion for language competence assessment. Academic Shcherba was the first among linguists who advocated the research of erroneous language and pointed out the importance of the negative linguistic material analysis.
Errors are also a natural phenomenon as it is quite obvious that not only foreign
language learners make errors. Native speakers‘ speech is ―in fact guilty of numerous deviations from the norm‖ [9, p. 36]. Moreover, errors are socially conditioned as they reflect
the personal background, education level, occupation and social environment. Social environment change also affects the spoken activity (school – university, differentiation among the group, different learning stages, etc.) and error type. So it is inevitable that language learners make errors.
Methodology
140
In spite of the fact that errors are inevitable, teachers are still intolerant of them, especially non-native speaking teachers, and try to correct them. In our personal opinion, the negative attitude towards errors makes learners more inhibited about making errors and thus
doesn‘t help to overcome their language barrier and reticence to speak in class. Furthermore,
the language is constantly developing and some errors can become so widespread that they become part of the language (who instead of whom, will for all persons and numbers, subjunctive was is becoming more common).
Traditionally, speech accuracy assessment is based on the speech culture and the literary norm of any language. In this view, an error is regarded as a corrupted form of the standard language usage. They are classified according to the language aspects (phonological, lexical and syntactic errors).
According to the Longman Dictionary of Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics, an error is ―…the use of a linguistic item (e.g. a word, a grammatical item, a speech act, etc.) in a way which a fluent or native speaker of the language regards as showing faulty or incomplete learning...‖ [7, p. 201].
Stephen Pit Corder introduced an innovative error classification. He distinguishes
«errors» and «mistakes». Corder argues that errors are the result of the mother tongue interference and reflect the foreign language acquisition. They result from gaps in learners‘ knowledge and occur because learners don‘t know what is correct. Such errors are unavoidable as the contemporary teaching methods encourage learners‘ independence at the
expense of grammar exercises. In their turn, mistakes reflect occasional performance slips caused by fatigue, excitement, etc. and therefore can be easily self-corrected [1].
Jack Richards, trying to explain why errors occur in the acquisition of English as a second language, classified them as follows:
a) interlingual errors(errors due to transferring rules from the mother tongue)
b) intralingual errors(errors similar to those produced by the child in the mother tongue) [6, p. 204-209].
Some errors are considered more serious than others as it is difficult to understand
what learners mean to say. Rod Ellis distinguishes ―global‖ and ―local‖ errors. Global errors
break the overall sentence structure causing process difficulties. Local errors influence only a single element in the sentence and they are unlikely to cause comprehension problems. [3, p.20] In fact, global errors are more remarkable because they can lead to communication gaps
so it is critically important to focus teachers‘ attention on them. In their turn, local errors are
