ВВЕДЕНИЕ
Основной целью обучения английскому языку студентов заочного
отделения в вузе является формирование знаний, умений и навыков,
которые позволят использовать иностранный язык как в профессиональной
и научной деятельности, так и для самостоятельной работы и обучения. В
связи с этим основная цель пособия – приобретение студентами
коммуникативной компетенции и систематизация основных
грамматических и лексических навыков студентов, необходимых для
умения самостоятельно читать научную литературу для получения
необходимой информации.
В ходе работы с пособием решаются следующие задачи:
1) отрабатываются навыки чтения общенаучной и
терминологической лексики;
2) осуществляется знакомство с основными разделами грамматики с
последующей проработкой;
3) формируются навыки чтения научной литературы;
4) развиваются навыки перевода текстов различных научных
областей;
5) формируются коммуникативные навыки, необходимые для
общения на иностранном языке в рамках ограниченных тем и ситуаций;
6) формируются навыки письма, необходимые для осуществления
профессиональной деятельности.
Пособие содержит четыре урока (Units), каждый из которых состоит
из трех подразделов (Варианты). Каждый вариант включает тексты,
лексический и грамматический раздел. Уроки составлены так, чтобы была
возможность использовать их в качестве контрольных работ для студентов
заочного отделения различных научных направлений.
Пособие имеет четыре приложения, включающие дополнительные
материалы по следующим аспектам:
1) Grammar. Приложение 1 представляет затрагиваемую в пособии
грамматику в виде подробных таблиц с пояснениями и примерами.
2) Приложение 2 включает в себя тест, нацеленный на проверку
освоения грамматического материала из пособия или для оценки уровня
обучающихся.
3) Writing. Приложение 3 состоит из трех отдельных уроков,
нацеленных на развитие навыков аннотирования, написания резюме,
сопроводительного письма и ознакомление с основами официальноделового стиля общения.
4) Reading. Приложение 4 включает разнообразные и аутентичные
тексты для чтения и перевода по различным научным направлениям.
5) Listening. В приложении 5 приводится список видео и аудио
интернет-ресурсов, которые позволят студентам развить и
усовершенствовать навыки восприятия иностранной речи.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND THE MODERN WORLD

These days the world is developing at a very high speed. All the countries
of the world aim to interact with each other and become more united.
Accordingly, the role of a foreign language is getting more and more important
because there should be no barrier in understanding each other. It is a wellknown fact that knowledge of foreign languages opens many doors not only for
the whole nation but also a single citizen.
The role of the English language in the modern world is invaluable.
English is believed to be the most commonly used language. Knowledge of this
language is also essential in order to study abroad. Those wishing to find a
prestigious and well-paid job can’t do without it. The importance of the English
language in the modern world today is quite large. Most recently, it was a
foreign language for us, and today it is an international one. Therefore, now in
all countries of the world English is attached great importance to. Today
children begin to study it at a preschool age.

Travelling to English speaking countries is only possible if you know and

you will feel confident abroad.
The English language is the most important communicative tool at the
international level. Modern man cannot use the latest benefits of civilization
without certain linguistic knowledge. All spheres of our vital activity to some
extent require knowledge of the English language.
Learning English is becoming more and more sought after. Any modern
person should speak it at least at the basic level.
