Вслед за главредом «Газеты.Ru» заявление об увольнении написал Алексей Воробьёв.

Неделя началась с громких отставок в проектах, принадлежащих Алишеру Усманову. Вслед за уходом с поста главного редактора «Газеты.Ru» пост руководителя радиостанции «Коммерсантъ FM» покинул Алексей Воробьёв. Об этом «Известиям» рассказали источники на медиарынке и подтвердил высокопоставленный сотрудник издательского дома «КоммерсантЪ».

Пока от издательского дома «Коммерсантъ» не последовало официального сообщения по поводу отставки Воробьёва, сам он для комментариев пока недоступен.

Алексей Воробьёв возглавил радиостанцию «Коммерсантъ FM» летом 2012 года, после того как его предшественник покинул эту должность. После отставки предыдущий редактор заявил, что планирует заняться собственным рекламным бизнесом.

Главный редактор радиостанции «Эхо Москвы» готов предложить Алексею Воробьёву, который сегодня написал заявление об увольнении с поста главного редактора радиостанции «Коммерсантъ FM», вернуться на «Эхо».

– Я могу подтвердить, что Алексей Воробьёв собрался уходить из «Коммерсантъ FM», написал заявление. Я всегда

рад видеть Алексея и готов предложить ему работу с учётом его нового опыта и старого телевизионного. Если ему будет интересно, я готов предложить поработать над нашим телевизионным проектом, – рассказал «Известиям» Венедиктов.

Алексей Воробьёв ранее уже работал на «Эхе». С 2003 года – ведущим, с 2006-го – заместителем главного редактора. Когда в 2010 году Воробьев переходил на создаваемую в тот момент радиостанцию «Коммерсантъ FM», его руководитель – Алексей Венедиктов называл этот уход «большой

потерей».

ARMENIAN PM RESIGNS AFTER WEEKS OF UNREST

Move follows standoff in capital Yerevan between police and armed men, and could pave way for a coalition government

The prime minister of Armenia has announced his resignation following weeks of civil unrest and a sharp economic downturn. He told a cabinet meeting on Thursday that the country needs “new approaches and a new beginning”, and his departure should lead the way towards a coalition government.

Last month, Armenia’s president promised to create a government of national accord after a two-week standoff at a police compound in the capital, Yerevan, which left two police officers dead and shook the nation.

Several dozen armed men stormed the building and demanded the release of the leader of the opposition group, who

was arrested in June on suspicion of preparing to seize government buildings and telecoms facilities in Yerevan.

The standoff galvanised Armenia’s protest movement, triggering rallies in support of the gunmen and further clashes with police.

In comments reported by Russian news agencies, the PM said he was stepping down in order to “give a chance to a new government”, which would offer “new approaches in order to consolidate society”.

However, it was not clear from his statement who would lead the government.

Political analysts in Armenia have named the former mayor of Yerevan as the likeliest successor.

Egypt's President on Saturday accepted the resignation of his prime minister and his cabinet. The resignation comes after former Agriculture Minister was detained on Monday, after an investigation headed by the country's prosecutor revealed that the minister and others received bribes amounting to over USD $1 million. The detention of former minister came after he resigned at the request of the President. He allegedly took bribes from businessmen to allow them to illegally purchase and acquire land within the nation. The President informed the cabinet upon their

resignation to remain involved in a caretaker role until a new cabinet is assembled.

Corruption remains a problem in Egyptian politics. In July an Egyptian court sentenced former prime minister to five years in prison. Ex-PM served until the start of the Egyptian Uprising in 2011, and was convicted of using his position to make illicit gains in excess of 64 million Egyptian pounds, or approximately USD $8.2 million. In February the Cairo Criminal Court acquitted him and former minister of interior of all charges against them. Both defendants were charged after allegedly making an illegal deal with German Company UTSCH to sell license for higher than market value.

Американский журнал Forbes опубликовал новый глобальный рейтинг миллиардеров. По данным Forbes, самым богатым человеком в мире в 2013 году стал владелец латиноамериканской телекоммуникационной империи America Movil Карлос Слим Элу.

Слим удерживает первую строчку в глобальном рейтинге миллиардеров уже четвертый год подряд. За год его состояние выросло до $ 73 млрд с $ 69 млрд в 2012 году.

Вторую строчку рейтинга в 2013 году, как и годом ранее, занял основатель Microsoft Билл Гейтс с состоянием $67 млрд. За год его состояние увеличилось на $6 млрд за счет роста стоимости акций Microsoft.

На третьей строчке рейтинга расположился основатель торговой империи Inditex, владелец марки одежды Zara Амансио Ортега с состоянием $57 млрд, который поднялся на две позиции вверх по сравнению с рейтингом 2012 года и вытеснил из первой тройки инвестора Уоррен Баффетта. PITT PROFESSOR PLACED ON FORBES “30 UNDER 30” LIST

Hao Sun sees little difference between monitoring the health of buildings and bridges and monitoring the health of human bodies.

“In the human body, we have the nervous system so when you feel something abnormal or if you’re sick, your nervous system can tell this information”, Sun said. “In terms of detecting building health, we install sensors on structures to formulate a sort of nervous system”.

Hao Sun, an assistant professor in civil and environmental engineering at Pitt, has developed a method that can help detect structural problems in infrastructure after an extreme event like an earthquake or a hurricane. Performing this kind of research at 29 years old earned Sun a slot on Forbes’ 2018 “30 Under 30: Science” list. Forbes considers thousands of submissions and accepts less than four percent for each category. Experts in scientific fields vote on the finalists.

“I feel very lucky”, Sun said. “I know the selection process has been very hard and they have to select exactly 30 people from

the pool. I think getting [on] this list is really encouraging for me to do high-impact research in the future”.

“He graduated from Columbia with very good training and did his postdoc at MIT”, his colleague said. “I think he’s a very energetic and dynamic person and is solving a very important problem”.

Sun said he knew he wanted to pursue structural engineering during his undergraduate studies at Hohai University in China after noticing the mass of safety problems with buildings and bridges. He began developing a technique in 2010 while studying at Columbia, and Forbes has since taken notice. He described the method as having two major components.

The first involves developing a wireless sensor system that will be built into buildings and bridges, while the second involves data analytics. The method is more advanced than previous attempts because Sun’s technology can measure the performance of a structure before, during and after an earthquake hits, whereas seismographs only record data when an earthquake hits.

Professor Vidic who is the department chair for civil and environmental engineering said he thinks the people building infrastructure are more focused on the design aspect of the structure than with safety – a problem Sun’s research can help fix. “We build these buildings, and people assume that they’re gonna stand for 50 or 100 years without any problems”, Vidic said. “We’re dealing with human lives living in those buildings”.

Scientists agree Sun’s research reflects well on the engineering department at Pitt and has the potential to make a global impact.
