The high cost of living in some of Australia’s largest cities has been highlighted once again.

In a new report Sydney, Melbourne and 6 cities more have been ranked among the most expensive in the world.

Even though inflation growth is at record lows, all the cities have been rated by Numbeo – which is world´s largest online database for cost of living – among the 100 most expensive cities in the world today.

Sydney surged to 32nd on Numbeo’s list after ranking 41st in last year’s report, while Melbourne climbed 13 places to rank 64th. Here’s a little breakdown:

Childcare for a month costs $1,922 in Sydney and $1,343 in Melbourne, compared to $2,158 in New York.

A month’s rent for a one bedroom apartment in the centre of London costs $2,870 and some $3,096 in New York. In the heart of Sydney – $2,619, Melbourne – $1,746.

According to Numbeo, Sydney has become the 16th most expensive place for renting in the world, while Melbourne ranks 68th in this category.

The cost per square metre for an apartment in Sydney city is around $13,212 and $8,603 in the heart of Melbourne. A square metre costs about $16,750 in New York.

As you would expect, the most expensive groceries in the country can also be found in Sydney and Melbourne, contrasting with the cheaper groceries you can find in other cities of Australia. Compared with the world’s most expensive groceries, Sydney ranks 52nd while Melbourne comes in 72nd.

Fancy a low-grade hamburger? Well, you’re in luck. A meal at Maccas typically comes close to $10 Australian dollars, fairly similar to what it costs in every major city of the world.

From the 540 cities surveyed by Numbeo, the cheapest restaurants in Australia are located on the Gold Coast.

The 2017 Africa-ASEAN Business Expo (AABE) will take place in Johannesburg City, South Africa, from November 6-8.

Pretoria met with Edward Liu, Managing Director of Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS), on Wednesday, to discuss the event.

The event will include an exhibition, a business forum for the African-Asian region, and business meetings, focusing on education, environment, services, finance and business, food, retail, healthcare, housing construction, infrastructure, information technology, transport and tourism.

The expo, which will be held by Singapore Manufacturing Federation and CEMS, is expected to welcome 3,000-4000 visitors and entrepreneurs.

ASEAN’s trade-investment organisations, including the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce enormous potential and Industry, are partners of the AABE organising board.

Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa, who is also Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Pretoria, said trade and investment between southern Africa and ASEAN had. The upcoming expo will create an excellent opportunity for businesses to promote trade and investment, he added. It will also help popularise ASEAN and its members, including Việt Nam, to South Africa and the southern part of Africa, he said.

Trade between ASEAN and Africa showed an annual increase of 15 per cent from 1989 to 2014.

Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore are the biggest trade partners of Africa, while South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt are the largest importers of the bloc.

Currently, 300 companies from ASEAN are operating in Africa, mainly in agriculture, machine manufacturing, oil drilling, and urban development.

South Africa is the main market of Việt Nam in the south of Africa. Two-way trade reached about US$1.1 billion in 2015 and is expected to increase.
