Joke Time
Man: Waiter, I want to complain about this horrible food. Please may I see the chef?
Waiter: I’m afraid not, sir, he’s just gone out to lunch.
A man was having breakfast in an English hotel. He took a drink from his cup and then said to the waiter, “Waiter, is this tea or coffee?”
“Can’t you tell the difference, sir, by the taste?”
“No,” said the man.
“If you can’t tell the difference what does it matter which it is?”
Wife: I cook and cook every day and I get nothing for it!
Husband: You’re luckly, darling. I get indigestion.
indigestion – несварение желудка
When I serve dinner should I say “Dinner is ready” or “Dinner is served?”, a new cook asked the mistress of the house.
“If you cook it the way you cooked it yesterday, just say, “Dinner is ruined.”
Mr. Johnson, an Englishman, was living in a hotel in Germany. He usually had lunch in a little cafй. Every time he came to the table, a German who was sitting there stood up and said, “Mahlzeit.” The Englishman answered, “Johnson.” A few days later, Mr. Johnson was talking to an English friend.
“The Germans have some strange traditions,” he said. “Every time I come to the cafй for lunch, a German stands up and tells me his name.”
“That seems strange to me, too,” the friend said. “What does the man say?”
“He tells me his name – Mahlzeit,” Mr. Johnson replied.
His friend laughed. “Mahlzeit” isn’t his name, it is the German word for “good appetite”. He wants you to have a good appetite,” he explained.
The next day, when Mr. Johnson came into the cafй, he smiled to the German and said, “Mahlzeit.” The German stood up and answered, “Johnson!”
A little girl came up to her mother and said; “Spot is a very bad dog. He has been eating my slippers.”
“Yes, he is very bad,” said the mother, “and he is to be punished.”
“Oh, mother, I’ve punished him already. I went to his kennel and drank his milk.”
