1 of the telegraph is connected with the name of a scientist and a pedagogue Alexander Graham Bell*. He was the first to invent the telephone. He 2 in the capital of Scotland, Edinburg, on the 3rd of March, 1847. He entered Edinburgh University and graduated it as a teacher. Later he 3 Medicine at Medical Department of London University for 2 years. Especially he was engaged with learning of human articulating organs under the guidance of the German scientist Ludwig Helmholzat. Unfortunately in 1871 he fell ill and had to be sent by parents to Canada to recover.

T hen he started a Teachers’ Training College for teaching deaf children.

At that time he thought the special apparatus 4 the deaf to pronounce the sounds of speech and to speak. He was appointed

to fulfill a very difficult task. 5 by the father’s job as a teacher of deaf children, Alexander started 6 of one great idea of sending music or words by telegraph. He thought the speech to be a kind of A. G. Bell

vibration. The best idea was 7 this vibration into electricity and to send it over telegraph. 8 just a beginner in scientific experiments, he had to look through a great number of books on electricity. He invented also a microphone together with Thomas Watson. The telephone as new module was tested for the first time in 1875. The dream of a great man had been realized. Bell was not interested in business itself.

In 1892 he gave up 9 at his telephone. He used his money on scientific investigations. In 1889 he was elected the President of the National Geographic Society. As a teacher he was sure in importance of 10 nations that’s why he established a new Journal «The National Geographic». Now it is the most popular journal about nature with pictures of high quality.

The life of A.G. Bell was devoted to science. The author of such an outstanding invention, useful for deaf children, A. G. Bell, died in 1922. He is respected in Britain and in the USA.
