Ratio of oxidized and reduced forms of noble metals in the priamurye region.
SUMMARY. Since the noble metals (NM) are extended unevenly in nature, determination of individual forms of NM characterizing mineral accumulation is an important task. In particular, NM in their oxidized form – (Cox) characterize migration and scattering in the environment and reduced form – (Cred) indicate mineral accumulation For determination of Cox we proposed to separate oxidized forms from reduced NM forms by filtration while heating of a standard sample up to the boiling point in solution of 3 M HCl. Thus, Cox NM forms remain in the filtrate, whereas Cred NM forms remain in the sediment. The oxidation of NM minerals, described in the second law of thermodynamics and the Nernst equation proceeds on the surface, however the concentrations of the reduced NM forms (Cred) can be determined by the equation Cred. = Cgross – Сox., where Cgross is gross concentration of NM in a sample. In addition we found out that correlation (Сox/Cred) of an individual NM with geometric dimensions can be also given by another equation described in the article. Thus for surface waters, soils and plants the ratios (Сox/Cred) responsible for the proceeding process of NM mineral formation and their scattering in natural landscapes were determined. On the whole the number of oxidized forms of NM depends on chemical nature of an individual NM, its total concentration, average radius of its minerals and physicochemical properties of an open stationary system (temperature, pressure, pH, Eh).
