TEXT I. MY STUDENT’S DAY

My name is Kate. I am 18 years old. I‘ve just left school; I‘ve finished it this year. When you leave school you understand that the time to choose your future profession has come. It‘s not easy to make the right choice. I think I did. Now I am a first-year student at the Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts. I entered this higher educational institution because I am fond of arts.

I go to the Academy 6 times a week. As classes usually begin at 8.00 on weekdays I get up early, at half past six. I make my bed, take a shower, clean my teeth, brush my hair, make up and dress. Then I have a substantial breakfast. It is usually a strong cup of tea to wake up, some sandwiches with ham or porridge. I never eat flakes and very seldom scrambled eggs. While having breakfast I listen to the latest news over the radio or watch TV. At 7.20 I leave the house and go to the Academy. As I live not far from it, I often go there on foot. It takes me half an hour to get to the Academy. When I go there by bus it takes me only a quarter of an hour.

I usually come to the Academy a few minutes before the bell. We usually have three classes a day. We study various special and socialpolitical subjects: History, Philosophy, Psychology, a foreign language and other. There are 10-minute breaks between classes. During the break I go to the self-service canteen and have lunch. Every day we have three or four classes. I like my study, because some subjects are very interesting and my group mates are cheerful. We often spend our free time together.

After classes I return home, or sometimes I stay at the Academy to take part in art and creative activities. At home I have a short rest, have dinner and take my dog for a walk. In the evening I like to read a book

36

or to surf the net. If there is something on TV I watch the program. Sometimes I go out with my friends. We go to the cinema or some concert. My working day lasts till 12.00. I like to have a walk before sleep, then I go to bed.
