With the advent of the internet, broadcast journalism has undergone a major

the news in an accurate and fair manner.

online journalism.
The purpose of a website is either to inform, educate, persuade or entertain.
Students log on to revise the subjects needed or extend their knowledge. Company
websites alone are examples of persuasive websites as the whole intention of creating
a website is to gain both customers and publicity. They want to be recognized and
grow. Entertainment websites include Twitter, where people create accounts and have
their own page where they can post and share what they like, it’s a way of expressing
yourself. The codes used on a website are written text, colours, graphics, images,
sound, fonts, video and sound effects. The conventions vary on what the website is
based on. A company website would be very formal, with lots of information about
the company, contact details, a map showing where they are located, different stores
28

etc. Whereas an education website will be aimed at school children or students with
bright colours, videos, activities to do online and other ways of learning.
