Связующий звук [r]. Конечная буква r и буквосочетание rе на конце слова обычно не читаются, а лишь влияют на чтение предшествующей гласной. Однако, если после слои, оканчивающегося на букву r или буквосочетание rе, идет слово, начинающееся с гласной, то конечная буква r или буквосочетание rе читаются как звук [r], причем оба слова произносятся слитно, например:

Ateacher or a student? - Преподаватель иди студент?

You are a student. - Вы студент.

Конечная буква r не читается на стыке двух смысловых групп, отделенных одна от другой паузой, например:

His 'sister is a teacher and 'he’s a student. Его сестра - преподаватель, а он студент.
