Many retailers practice multiple-unit pricing. That is, they set a single price for two or more units, such as two cans for 99 cents rather than 50 cents for can.

Prestige pricing is the strategy of setting a high price to project an aura of quality status.

Price lining is selling goods only at a certain predetermined prices that reflect definite price breaks. For example, the store may sell men’s tie only at $9 and $16. This strategy is widely used in clothing stores and boutiques.

Geographical pricing strategies deal with delivery costs. The seller may assume all delivery costs, no matter where the buyer is located. This practice is called uniform delivered pricing.

After setting the basic price for a product according to an overall pricing method, the seller adjusts the price according to a pricing strategy.

Wholesaling comprises all transactions in which the purchaser intends to use the product for re-sale, for making other products or for general business operations. It does not include exchanges with ultimate consumers.

A wholesaler is an individual or organization engaged in facilitating and expediting exchanges that are primarily wholesaler transactions.

Wholesalers generally fall into three categories: merchant wholesalers; commission merchants, agents and brokers; and manufacturers’ sales branches and offices. Of these, merchant wholesalers constitute the largest portions.

A merchant wholesaler is a middleman that purchases goods in large quantities and then sells them to other wholesalers or retailers and to institutional, farm, government or industrial users. They are sometimes called distributors or jobbers. Distributors are firms that buy and sell on their own account but tend to deal in the goods of only certain specified manufacturers.
