12. My plans for future

1. I am a fourth  year student of the Vinnitsa National Technical University.

2. The right choice of profession is very important for the future of any young man.

3. I think many professions are useful, necessary and attractive.

4. But the profession of engineer attracts me most.

5. This profession requires special aptitude, deep knowledge and long training.

6. My future specialty is radio electronics and I am a student of the electronics faculty. 7. Electronics is the leading branch of the national economy of our country.

8. Without electronics any branch of economy can’t practically exist.

9. The students of the electronics faculty must know all the latest achievements of science and engineering.

10. At the University we study a lot of things to become good specialists.

11. Technological and industrial progress depends on the scientist, the engineer and the technologist  an essential triangle.

12. The practical work of the engineer is his design.

13. He has to design products, machines and production system.

14. Like the research engineer he always asks "Why?", like the technologist he always asks "how?".

15. The engineer must combine many of the characters of the research engineer and technologist.

16. Perhaps the most important function of the engineer is to integrate the work of the scientist, the engineer and the technologist

17. I think the theoretical knowledge and practical training will help me to be a good engineer.

18. An engineer must always master his (or her) knowledge and theoretical skills.

13.My Future Profession (ma)

I study at the Vinnitsa National Technical University. Our University trains different engineers. My speciality is Medical Apparatuses. I have been interested in this field of technology since my 10th form. A designer of medical devices deals with research and development of new types of medical equipment for different branches of national economy. The assortment of these developments is widely used in industry, medical centers and in everyday life.

To design new devices for medical centers and hospitals everybody has to become a good specialist. We should learn the following subjects: mathematics, physics, fundamentals of research activities, radio – engineering circuits and signals, radio- engineering units and systems, and so on.

I think, every engineer should know English to read specialized papers and translate them from English into Ukrainian.

The profession of a medical electronics engineer is very important. Skilled and well- trained electronics - engineers are respected not only in our country, but also abroad. That’s why we are going to becоme good specialists. There are many diagnostic and commercial centers in Vinnitsa which need talented young engineers crazy about their medical apparatuses.

14.Найвидатніші діячі науки, в якій я спеціалізуюсь.

1. Electronics is one of the main sciences which forms the technological basis for the development of science and engineering. 2. Electronics surrounds us everywhere. 3. Television, tape-recording, radio-receiving - electronics is the heart of them all. 4. The realm of electronics of today influences almost every aspect of human activity. 5. Electronics is a comparatively young science, but it is one of the most astonishing sciences of our time. 6. Many famous scientists worked and work in the field of electronics. 7. Joseph John Thomson is a discoverer of the electron. 8. He was appointed Professor of Physics when he was only twenty-eight years old. 9. In the closing year of the 19th century Thomson, the professor of physics at Cambridge, discovered the electron. 10. The discovery of the electron and the investigation into its nature which followed led to a revolution in physical science. 11. The Russian scientist Popov and the American scientist Marconi discovered the principle of wireless electronic communication that finally led to the development of electronic tubes for use in various communication devices. 12. This invention gave a powerful stimulus to the development of electronics. 13. In 1904 O. A. Flemming suggested a two-electrode tube and in 1907 De Forts invented a three-electrode one. 14. In 1947 the transistor was invented at Bell labs. 15. One of the inventors of the transistor was Dr. Bardeen. 16. He conducted research on the electron-conducting properties of semiconductors. 17. This work led to invention of the transistor. 18. In 1956 he won the Nobel Prize as a co-inventor of the transistor. 19. Dr. Bardeen also worked in the field of superconductivity at low temperatures. 20. He got his second Nobel Prize in 1972 for his work with Leon Cooper and Robert Schriffer on the theory of superconductivity. 21. A Japanese investigator, Lew Esaki discovered a simple semiconductor class of crystal that is even more amazing than the transistor. 22. The tunnel diode, as it is called, operates on a negligible amount of electric current. 23. It has a diameter a few thousandth inch. 24. With such transistor it became possible to have telephones worn on wrists and pocket-size TV sets.
