Верительные грамоты (lettres de creance - фр.) - документ, удостоверяющий представительский характер дипломатического представителя и аккредитующий его в иностранном государстве. Верительные грамоты подписываются главой государства, назначающего дипломатического представителя, и адресуются главе государства, принимающего дипломатического представителя.

Составными элементами верительных грамот являются: соот­ветствующее конституции или другому основному закону страны, принимающей дипломатического представителя, титулование главы этого государства; фраза, мотивирующая назначение диплома­тического представителя, в редакции которой отражается состояние {дипломатических отношений между двумя странами; имя, фамилия, к также ранг дипломатического представителя, соответствующий уровню, на котором обе страны обмениваются дипломатическими представителями; просьба верить всему тому, что будет излагать дипломатический представитель от имени главы своего государства или от имени своего правительства.

В отзывных грамотах в краткой форме сообщается о факте отзыва дипломатического представителя, о причинах отозвания; выражается надежда, что дипломатический представитель содействовал под­держанию и развитию дипломатических отношений между странами.
