On trade and economic cooperation

The Government of (name of country) and the government of (name of country), hereinafter referred to as "The Contracting Parties",

Wishing to further strengthen trade and economic relations between the two countries on the principles of equality and mutual

benefit,

have agreed as follows:

Article I

The Contracting Parties shall, in accordance with their national laws and regulations, promote trade and economic cooperation between their two countries on a sustained and stable basis.

Article 2

1. To advance the objectives of Article 1, the Parties shall encourage and facilitate:

  1. the negotiation of commercial contracts between the relevant commercial enterprises and organizations of their two countries;

  2. the development of commercial and technical representatives, groups and delegations between the two countries; and

  3. the interchange of commercial and technical representatives, groups and delegations between the two countries; and

(d) the holding of, and participation in, trade fairs, trade exhibitions and other promotional activities in the field of trade technology in each country by enterprises and organizations of the other country.

2. In encouraging and facilitating activities under Article 2, the Parties shall encourage legal and natural persons to have due regard to the protection of intellectual property in their commercial relations.

The Contracting Parties shall grant each other most favoured nation treatment in all respects concerning customs duties, intern... taxes or other taxes or charges imposed on or in connection with 'imported goods, customs and other related formalities, regulations and procedures, in the issue of import and export licences and any provision of foreign exchange connected therewith. […]

Article 6

All payments arising from trade between (name of country) and (name of country) shall be made in mutually acceptable freely-convertible international currencies subject to the foreign exchange

regulations in force in the two countries at the time the payments question are made. This does not preclude... and ... natural and legal persons entering, by mutual agreement, into other payment arrangements. [... ]

Article 9

11. The Contracting Parties may, by mutual consent, hold consultations in order to facilitate the effective implementation of this Agreement.

12. Any dispute between the Parties relating to the interpretation or implementation of this Agreement shall be resolved, without unreasonable delay, by friendly consultations and negotiations. [... ]

Article 11

1. This Agreement shall come into force on the date of the last [notification by which the two Contracting Parties have informed each other that the domestic legal procedures for bringing into force the Agreement have been completed and shall remain in force for a period of five years.

2. Thereafter this Agreement shall remain in force until the expiry of 6 months from the date on which either Contracting Party receives from the other Contracting Party written notice of its desire to terminate this Agreement.

AGREEMENT

BETWEEN

DEPARTM ENTS

HEADS OF AGREEMENT FOR COOPERATION BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND THE UNITED KINGDOM DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY ON THEIR RESPECTIVE PROGRAMMES FOR NUCLEAR CLEAN-UP

The United States Department of Energy (USDoE) and United Kingdom Department of Trade and Industry (UKDTI) have similar issues associated with their programmes for nuclear decommissioning and clean-up.

In recognition of these similarities, USDoE and UKDTI agree to exchange information on these nuclear programmes and to explore and promote means by which each party can benefit from the other's respective expertise.

There shall be no obligation on either USDoE or UKDTI provide any information which is considered to be of commercial value or sensitivity.

If either party decides to supply such information, this supply shall be subject to any reasonable restrictions it wishes to impose.

The exchange will initially involve a comparison of selected management processes and of similar projects.

An outline programme of work for these exchanges is attached.

Following completion of this initial programme, USDoE and UKDTI will jointly consider what further cooperation should be undertaken.
