1.6.Dushanbe is the capital of tajikstan

Dushanbe (Tajik:Душанбе, Dushanbe, Dyushambe until 1929; Stalinabad, Tajik:Сталинабад until 1961), population 679,400 people (2008 est.), is the capital and largest city of Tajikistan. Dushanbe means "Monday" inTajik, and the name reflects the fact that the city grew on the site of a village that originally was a popular Mondaymarketplace.

Situated at the confluence of two rivers, VarzobandKofarnihon, Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan. Although archaeological remnants dating to the 5th century BC have been discovered in the area, there is little to suggest that Dushanbe was more than a small village until the early 20th century. In 1920, the lastEmir of Bukharabriefly took refuge in Dushanbe (then called Dyushambe) after being overthrown by theBolshevikrevolution. He fled to Afghanistan after theRed Armyconquered the area the next year.

Dushanbe, which means "Monday" in Persian, (فارسی), developed on the site of a Monday marketplace village, Dyushambe-Bozor, and its former name Dyushambe was a Russifiedversion of the word meaning "Monday" inPersian(du-shanbe from du two + shanbe Saturday, lit. "second day after Saturday"). Following the Red Army victory in Central Asia the village was upgraded to town in 1925 and made the capital of the newly created Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic(Tajik ASSR). After the transformation of Tajik ASSR toTajik Soviet Socialist Republic(Tajik SSR) in 1929, Dyushambe was renamed Stalinabad, afterJoseph Stalin. As part ofNikita Khrushchev'sde-Stalinizationinitiative, the city was renamed Dushanbe in 1961.

The city was badly damaged as a result of the Civil War in Tajikistan(1992–1997) that sprang up in the nation shortly after its independence. However resurgences in the Tajik economy have transformed Dushanbe into a rapidly growing commercial, cultural and industrial center. Many multi-story apartment and office buildings were constructed and the city was beautified during this period. Monuments and statues commemorating the city'sPersianpast were erected.

1.7.My flat

I live in a 5-stored block of flats in Rudaky Avenue, Dushanbe City. It’s not a very picturesque place but we have a yard and a Kodak Express under the window.

My flat is on the third floor. It’s very comfortable and well planned. I have all modern conveniences, such as central heating, electricity, cold and hot running water and a telephone. There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a balcony in it. The largest room in my flat is the living room. My family uses it as a sitting room. There is a sofa, two armchairs, a coffee table, a TV set and a DVD in it.

We have two small rooms in our flat and one of them is my. It is not big but very cozy. There is a wardrobe near the wall and a desk near the window. My bad is at the left corner. I like my room wary much because it is my room.

Our kitchen is not very large but light. It’s very well equipped. We have got a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a coffee maker and a toaster. In evenings we like have tea and have rest in it.
