The Infinitive Инфинитив и его функции в предложении

Инфинитив - это основная форма глагола. Формальным признаком инфинитива является частицаto. Каждой группе времен в английском языке соответствует своя форма инфинитива.

Инфинитив имеет признаки, как существительного, так и глагола. Свойством инфинитива как глагола является его способность выражать характер действия (его длительность или завершенность) и залог.

Свойством инфинитива как существительного является его способность выполнять в предложении все те синтаксические функции, какие выполняет существительное, то есть инфинитив может быть: подлежащим, дополнением, обстоятельством, определением, именной частью составного именного сказуемого.

Функции инфинитива в предложении

Функция	Место в предложении	Примеры
Подлежащее (I место)	Перед сказуемым, где нет другого слова, которое могло бы быть подлежащим. Перевод:существительное или неопределенная форма глагола (инфинитив)	To readisuseful. Чтение полезно. / Читать полезно. To learn English is not easy. Учить английский нелегко.
Прямое дополнение (III место)	После переходных глаголов типа: to help, to like, to prefer, to forget, to ask, to want и т. п. Я вспомнил, что видел его раньше.

Именная часть сказуемого (II место)	Если подлежащее выраженного словами типа: aim, object, purpose, task, mission, way, method, plan, problem и т. п. Перевод: можно переводить, используя выражение “заключаться в том, чтобы”	The function of seismometers is to detect earthquake. Функция сейсмометра – (заключается в том, чтобы) регистрироватьземлетрясение. Our duty is to study well. Наш долг – (заключается в том, чтобы) хорошо учиться.

XIII. Прочитайте и переведите предложения, обращая особое внимание на инфинитив в функции:

• подлежащего:

• прямого дополнения:

• обстоятельства:
