Репрезентативность перевода на фонетическом уровне
Перевод на фонетическом уровне: имена собственные (антропонимы, топонимы, эргонимы, названия газет и журналов и т.п.); культурно-исторические реалии.
Задача перевода на фонетическом уровне – обеспечить узнаваемость формы. Транслитерация и транскрипция (переводческая транскрипция, транскрибирование) как переводческие трансформации, обеспечивающие репрезентативность. Современная тенденция транскрибирования «новых» имен. Существующие системы транслитерации / транскрипции. Требование последовательности в использовании возможных вариантов транслитерации / транскрипции. Роль фоновых знаний переводчика, умение использовать соответствующие словари и справочники. Сложные случаи антропонимов-ду- плетов. Передача при переводе с ИЯ на ПЯ имен и названий, принадлежащих третьему языку. Особые случаи необходи-

мости передать семантику имени (в частности – значащие фамилии в художественной литературе). Случаи использования собственно перевода (калька, генерализация, экспликация) при передаче имен собственных.
Задание 20. Определите вид каждого ИС. Соберите краткую фоновую информацию о денотате каждого ИС, используя достоверные и релевантные источники. Проанализируйте варианты передачи этих ИС (Транскрипция? Транслитерация? Традиция? Генерализация? Семантическое калькирование? Экспликация? Добавление? Опущение? Несколько приемов одновременно? Какие именно?).

British Columbia, westernmost of Canada’s 10 provinces. It is bounded to the north by Yukon and the Northwest Territories, to the east by the province of Alberta, to the south by the U.S. states of Montana, Idaho, and Washington, and to the west by the Pacific Ocean and the southern panhandle region of the U.S. state of Alaska. It stretches some 730 miles (1,180 km) from north to south and 640 miles (1,030 km) from east to west at its widest point. The land has a diversity of climate and scenery unparalleled in Canada, from the island-studded and fjordindented coast to the great peaks of the western continental cordilleras, with their large interior plateaus.
One of the last regions of the North American continent to be explored and settled, British Columbia emerged in the second half of the 20th century as one of the leading provinces of Canada in population, economic wealth, and overall growth. Its main cities include Vancouver, one of the largest ports of Canada and of western North America, and Victoria, the provincial capital, located on the southeastern tip of Vancouver Island. Area 364,764 square miles (944,735 square km). Pop. (2016) 4,648,055; (2019 est.) 5,071,336.
Land
Relief
The vast territory of British Columbia lies almost entirely within the great mountain system, or cordillera, that stretches along the western edge of the Americas from north of the Arctic Circle to Cape Horn, at the southernmost extremity of South America. These mountains divide the province in ranges aligned in a northwest-southeast direction, creating a series of valleys

and a broad central interior plateau where human settlement has concentrated. The two major ranges are the Coast Mountains, which lie in the western part of the province, and the Canadian portion of the Rocky Mountains in the eastern part. The province reaches its highest elevation in the far northwest at Mount Fairweather (15,300 feet [4,663 metres]), located in the St. Elias Mountains (a range of the Coast Mountains) on the Alaskan border. Hundreds of coast-hugging islands — the largest of which are Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii (formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands) — offer a protected waterway along the coastline, which is indented by narrow fjords that twist inland about the bases of towering mountains. The broad Fraser delta, behind Vancouver to the south, is the largest of the limited coastal lowlands. In the interior many of the wide plateaus are cut by deep canyons and entirely surrounded by mountain ranges, including the Cassiar, Omineca, Skeena, and Hazelton mountains in the north and the Columbia Mountains in the southeast.

OPULENT AND STYLISH ELEGANCE
The flip side of the understated and restrained beauty of shibui, wabi, sabi, and iki, is a more opulent elegance associated with Japan’s élites and intellectuals. Formal aristocratic culture of the Heian period (794–1185) gave rise to the first flowering of this aesthetic in Japan, then described as miyabi, “courtly elegance,” a word that expressed the pinnacle of refinement and beauty wistfully contemplated in the expression mono no aware. Closely related to miyabi is fūryū (“blowing with the wind”), a word that was also first clearly articulated in the Heian period. Originally a Chinese term (fengliu), it entered the Japanese vocabulary in the eighth century when it more simply described the gracefulness and propriety of courtiers. By the Heian period, fūryū had become an aesthetic term describing things and events out of the ordinary, such as poetry competitions, unconventional displays of flowers in a garden, opulent decorative arts, lavish banquets, and spectacles associated with court and religious festivals.36 By the late sixteenth century, multiple meanings
