Italy. Borgo San Felice.

Near Siena, Tuscany.

Set amidst rolling hills about ten miles north-east of Siena, Borgo San Felice should be considered an unusual yet charming base from which to experience the rural delights of Tuscany. If you love the region’s wines, you will be even further blessed! Originally a medieval hamlet, this inn-cum winery is part of a 1,850 acre estate producing some 125,000 cases of wine each year, including one of the top Tuscan table wines, Vigorello. Indeed, what is most fascinating about a stay here is that you can be a guest in a comfortable hotel, yet at the same time be a part of the rural day-to-day life of a working village. You will stay in either comfortable double rooms or spacious junior suites, all furnished in a rustic Tuscan style with modern amenities that include televisions, fridge/bars and bathrooms with tubs or showers. As might be expected from a property that is a member of Relais & Chateaux, dining is an important part of a stay here. The primarily Italian-based cuisine is hearty, yet summer meals are often taken on the alfresco dining terrace, whilst grilled meats and game are cooked on a big open fireplace in the winter and served in a delightful restaurant overlooking the Chianti hills. On-site recreational facilities include a swimming pool and two clay tennis courts, although drives and walks through the surrounding countryside are probably the more popular daytime pursuits. The cultural delights of Siena and Florence lie just twenty and eighty minutes drive away respectively. Borgo San Felice is ideal for restful long weekends or as part of a multi-centre Italian holiday. The entire estate is presided over by General Manager, Lorenzo Righi.
