A global system of ecological security

With the development of civilization man’s interference in nature increases leading to various negative changes in the environment. Among the negative factors the pollution of water and air and the destruction of natural landscapes. Due to the extreme significance of the problem more and more often suggestion are put forward about creating a system of international ecological security. Such a system presupposes a systematic analysis of global ecological situations. It also includes research and develop nowise technologies, ecologically clean production processes, improved technologies to purify water and air, alternative energy sources, methods for the rehabilitation of the environment.

In the commercial world today fairs and exhibitions play an important role. Every year a lot of international, national and specialized exhibitions and fairs are held in different countries of the world. The number of countries and companies who take part in them is growing from year to year and the scope of fairs and exhibitions is becoming larger. International trade fairs and exhibitions today fall mainly into three groups: specialized, general and business information exhibitions. The display during these exhibitions includes a wide range of exhibits which show the latest achievements in different fields of industry, science and agriculture of many countries. They are also an ideal way of advertising and sales promotion. At international and national exhibitions commercial centers are established where participants can negotiate the sale and the purchase of different goods. А fair or exhibition is always an event which attracts serious businessmen and the general public alike. Fairs and exhibitions are usually held under various mottoes: people and progress, peace and progress though economic cooperation and so on. Our country is a regular participant of almost all international fairs and exhibitions and has been host to a growing number of them.

Management

Our society is made up of all kinds of organizations, such as companies, government departments, unions, hospitals, schools, libraries and the like. In all these organizations, there are people carrying out the work of a manager. A French industrialist, Henri Fayol, wrote in 1916 a classic definition of the manager’s role. He said that to manage is to forecast and plan, to organize, to command, to coordinate and to control. An interesting modern view on managers is supplied by an American writer Mr. Peter Drucker. In his opinion, manages perform five basic operations. Firstly, managers set objectives. Secondly, managers organize. Their third task is to motivate and communicate effectively. The fourth activity is measurement. Finally, Peter Drucker says that managers develop people, including themselves. They help to make people more productive and to grow as human beings.

The main aspects of management

In carrying out management function, such as planning, organizing, motivating and controlling, manager will be continually making decisions. Decision-making is a key management responsibility. Some decisions are of the routine kind. They are decisions which are made fairly quickly, and are based on judgment. Other decisions are often intuitive ones. Such a decision is based an hunch, rather than rational thought. Many decisions are more difficult to make since they involve problem-solving. Very often, they are strategic decisions involving major courses of action which will affect the future direction of the enterprise. To make good decisions, the manager should be able to select, rationally, a course of action. In practice, decisions are usually made in circumstances which are not ideal. A useful approach to decision-making is as follows: the process consists of four phases: 1) defining the problem 2) analyzing and collecting information; 3) working out options 4) deciding on the best solution. Before making a decision, the manager will carefully assess the options, considering the advantages and disadvantages of each one.
