Personal Bathy Generator settings

Select [Option: PBG/2D/3D] from the [Utilities] menu, click the PBG tab to call up the window area which allows you to configure the PBG data display.

This zone of the window consists in three parts in which you can select easily the PBG resolution before imported data:

1.Check one of each radio button to choose the scale resolution for the PBG import.

2.The second part of the dialog box informs you about the chosen resolution value.

3.The third part on the bottom of the dialog box consists to a short definition that allows you to know in which case the chosen option is to be used.

Note: these customization features must be done before activating the PBG function on.

Bathy 2D settings

To emphasize the details of your 2D display charts, or accelerate the display speed, you can change the values of the 3D display properties.

To do so, select [Option: PBG/2D/3D] from the [Utilities] menu

Click the 2D tab index, The dialog box consists in four parts in which you can choose how to customize the 2D display on the chart.

(1)- Use data type

You can select the type of data you wish to display or not in 2D as well as the grid.

You can display one of each data type or all data types from "User data", " C-map" or "D.E.M.".

Note: check all boxes to display all data.

(2) - Display density

Three modes are proposed:

1.The Normal density option allows to optimize the resolution of the 2D data display resolution.

2.Select Low density option if you want to obtain more display speed.

3.Select High density option if you wish to obtain more details of the 2D data display resolution.

Note: if you have checked the GRID box under the "display" zone, the grid is drawn only in a normal mode and does not appears when either the "low density" or the "high density" mode is checked.

(3) - Interpolation

The interpolation check box allows you to select either Spline or Dilatation algorithms to display the data.

The Spline mode is a smooth mode more adapted to high scales but is slower.

The Dilatation mode is faster and more adapted to situations where data is grouped in a small geographical zone. There is no smoothing in this mode, only calculated data is displayed.

(4)- Display

Check the D.E.M. box to display the data import grid

And / or check the overzoom box to display data value for lower scales on the import value scale . (overzoom data value)

3D settings

You can change the values of the 3D display properties to emphasize certain chart details or improve performance.

1.Select [Option: PBG/2D/3D] from the [Utilities] menu

2.Select the 3D tab

3.Select the "Altitude Data filter" display by checking one of the radio buttons.

4.Several filters are available in the 3D tab as well as a check box to use hardware acceleration. You can display:

All data, in this case no filter is used.

Marine data only by removing land data.

All data except for underwater data.

Hardware

The minimum hardware configuration required is 64 Mb RAM with an 8Mb RAM video card. Better performance can be achieved with more system and video memory and a card that supports 3D acceleration.

MaxSea Operator Manual version 12.6

Note : MaxSea will operate in "hardware" mode if the video card supports hardware acceleration.

Otherwise, all 3D graphics are calculated by the software.

: "Hardware" mode.

If your computer does not have a 3D video card, the mode stays in "Software" mode .

Hardware : the "Use hardware acceleration" check box is unchecked by default (the calculation is realized by the software) and check the box to allow the software to use the 3D graphic card.

3D Window Display Quality: this slider allows you to determine the display precision degree of the 3D charts. It defines the best report quality / performance depending on your equipment and your required level of detail.

Note : the slider is in Lowest "Quality/Fastest" position by default.

Setting up GPS and Track

Select [Option: GPS/Track... ] from the [Utilities] menu to bring up the GPS/Track... window which consists in four parts of settings.

A list of mobile is shown on left-hand of the window. This list contains one or several mobiles, first choose a mobile on which you want to apply settings.

Then select one of each tab to apply settings.

Track tab

Checking boxes to define how to save your track.

1.Enable track recording check box to record automatically each Target's track. At least one mobile must have the track activated to enable this function.

2.Record all input data check box will record all data received from all mobile.

3.Single user file for target trails check box will record the trail of each target in a single file.

Recording accuracy

Define the precision of your track ( the interval between two saved points) in either time or distance.

We would advise a frequency of between 120 and 300 seconds (2 to 5 minutes), which is sufficiently adequate for normal navigation requirements where land is in sight. The saving of tracks is generally not used in the open sea.

1.Choose either Time or Distance option.

2.left-click on each number unit to modify its value or use arrow to increase or decrease.

Note:

select Fixed color option.

choose a single color from the color palette.

2 - Variable Track color

You could choose a variable track color in accordance with one of the data sources recognized by the software (e.g. speed of the ship, wind force factor, etc.).

1.click on "According to..." , to access the color palette range.

2.choose the data from which the color track will change (for example, speed).

3.click on the "Edit color range" button to bring up the window color range.

4.use the keyboard to select the delimiting speed values by successively selecting text zones (for example, speed of less than knots: blue track; speed exceeding knots: red track; speed between the two: variable color).

5.click on the Apply button to validate the display.

Note: the data sources are dependent upon the electronic equipment installed.

Display tab

Display is checked and the boat symbol will be displayed on screen.

Click on the color zone area of the symbol to choose in which color you want to the boat symbol.
