Dredge Function

Fig.1

Dredge

Quality

Fig. 2

When CTS is switched from 0 to 5 volts, quality is switched from 0 to 1 and CTS becomes equal to 0 volt, then the quality becomes equal to 2 during the time out (1). This time out may be defined by user. Get more information on "How To Set Up Time Out"

Inactive dredge (Quality = 0)

When MaxSea receives a 0 volt signal without having ever received a 5 volt one, the state automatically turns to 0

(inactive dredge).

Active dredge (Quality = 1 and the track is red)

When the software receives a 5 volt signal, the state turns to 1 (active dredge) and the track is on.

Note: it is impossible to Manually stop the track or Activate the track parameters choice dialog or Use the Man overboard function.

Hanging dredge (Quality = 2 and the track is blue )

When MaxSea does not receive anymore signal, the state turns to 2 (waiting for a new state, active or inactive) the track color turns to blue and the track save is still going on.

Then, if the signal is not received within TimeOut, MaxSea automatically turns the state to 0, the track is off.

The software stops the track save and suggests to "save as" the track in an existing file named "*.ptf".

Note that you can modify the TimeOut (for that, see paragraph TimeOut Preferences below).

Note : It is possible to create a new destination folder to save the dredge track in a new. PTF file. But it will be impossible to modify this file.

Then, the track is saved in an ASCII format file named "AAAAMMJJ.HHh.DRA.txt", the software suggests you to create a new destination folder for it.

Setting Up Time Out

How to input Time Out

1.Select [Data Input-Output Settings] from the [Utilities] menu and click on the "Dredge" Tab

2.Click on corresponding line in the dialog

3.Click on the Advanced Settings button to display the Time Out edit box

4.Enter a value to define the delay before stopping the Dredge track ( equal to 60sec by default)

For Example:

In case the time out is defined

If you stop the dredge, then after 60sec the dredge track will be stopped if you did not activated the dredge again.

Sounder Depth Profile

Depth Profile Overview

When a sounder is connected to MaxSea, the measurement from the sounder is recorded for each point and MaxSea can thus be used to display the bottom profile.

IMPORTANT - To round out the MaxSea-NavNet integration Depth Profile can be added. The Network Sounder is a dual-frequency plugs directly into a NavNet display or into the Ethernet Hub with a single cable. MaxSea-NavNet Depth Profile display gives then an accurate numeric depth data readings. This option is only available when NavNet system is connected to MaxSea.

Activate the Depth Profile Window

1.Click The Chart Desktop Mode on the Toolbar and choose to display the Depth Profile Window with a number of chart window as you want.

2.By default if a NavNet system is connected the Depth profile window is selected on NavNet mode and the Sounder toolbar is displayed. Click on the Depth profile mode on the toolbar to select a Depth profile mode. Toggle between NavNet or MaxSea or Historic mode.

There are three viewing modes; NavNet Mode, MaxSea Mode and Historic Mode:

1.NavNet Mode is the Time Advance display mode, echo displayed at each new echo arrival (up to 5/sec). The X Axis is echo based (no unit). You can choose to display Echo graph either in single or dual frequency ( following picture shows you the dual frequence display.)

2.MaxSea Mode is the Distance Advance display mode. The echogram and the Depth Profile Outline are updated every new GPS position (usually less than 1sec). The X Axis is distance-based (same as SPEED SENSING PRR) If the boat does not move, the echogram does not advance.

321

MaxSea Operator Manual version 12.6

3.Historic Mode is the profile of your boat 's Track. The profile window is always associated to a track , either a previously saved old track (Historic Mode), or the current track (MaxSea Mode.)

Note that the Depth Profile display mode by default is selected on NavNet Mode.

The Depth Profile window can also be opened from [Navigation Mode] under the [Windows] menu.

Switching between NavNet Mode and MaxSea Mode:

1.Click the "Depth Profile Information" arrow to open the drop-down menu list.

2.Either click NavNet Mode or MaxSea Mode depending on your choice.

Locating schools of fish and their depths.

Determining bottom discrimination,.

Locating shipwrecks, reefs, and other objects between the keel and the bottom.

Determining the water depth and locating risks for navigation.

Determining the water temperature changes.

Fishing and Cruising display modes are automatic.

The Manual Mode allows you to adjust the Range and the Shift echoes location.

Manual mode is selected on the Sounder toolbar.

S- and S+ buttons are available, click each one depending on your choice to move up or down the Echogram display view. A blue horizontal line delimits the echogram display down from it.

When S- is clicked the line moves upward and when S+ is clicked the line moves downward.

The Range buttons (R- and R+) are also available.

Selecting a NavNet Depth Profile Display

How to change the display in the NavNet Mode Depth Profile window::
