Sounder Depth Profile

2.You may specify the portion to expand by operating on the Variable Range Marker (VRM) of your Navnet display system. NavNet VRM location is shown by number (1) in picture above.

3.You can also toggled on HF or LF independently of the chosen display mode.

Bottom Zoom Display Mode

The Bottom Zoom display expands bottom and Bottom fish echoes by the zoom range selected on the Sounder toolbar. It is useful for determining bottom hardness.

In the right frame window the zoom maker is drawn with grey lines of steps which follow the bottom profile.

Bottom Lock Display Mode

The bottom-lock display provides a 10 or 20 feet (3 or 6 meter) wide layer in contact with the bottom . You may range from the SOUNDER RANGE SETUP menu.

Bottom Discrimination Display Mode

329

MaxSea Operator Manual version 12.6

The bottom discrimination mode displays the bottom echo to help you determine bottom hardness. A bottom displayed with a short echo tail usually means it is a soft, sandy bottom. A long echo tail means a hard bottom.

In the right frame window the zoom maker is drawn as a grey graph that follows the bottom profile from 3 meters up.

To display the depth profile window:

1.Click the Chart Desktop on the toolbar

2.Select a display mode with the depth profile window.

The NavNet Mode is selected by default if NavNet System is connected, otherwise MaxSea Mode is selected. You can change this mode by choosing it in the Depth Profile Mode drop-down menu list in the Depth Profile toolbar.

The Depth Profile Window Selected in MaxSea Mode Consists in two parts:

A MaxSea Mode toolbar with more buttons if a NavNet system is connected.

A graphical view which depends on input data from NMEA sentence. The representation

Depth Profile With MaxSea and NavNet Modes

"Depth Profile: MaxSea Mode" window details :

1.Depth Profile Label : when NavNet received is available, you will get Information on Depth below surface from NavNet NMEA (-22.7 m), Frequence (LF and see related topic for how to learn more about Transmission Frequency), Scale (1: 2 500) and Exaggeration (X4). When no NavNet received is available, you will not have echogram overlay and message of "NO SWEEP" is displayed at top-left Depth Profile window.

2.Depth Profile Outline : is shown in the Depth Profile window as a graph filled in with orange when Depth information coming in from NMEA. See related topic : Depth Profile Outline

3.Surface trail : when NavNet received is available, you will get the trail NMEA Depth on speed based.

4.X Axis : is distance-based (same as SPEED SENSING PRR) If the boat does not move, the echogram does not advance. For example School fishes appear with the same size independently of the boat speed.

5.Echogram : is the NavNet Sounder Echo layer overlay

6.A-Scope : Fixed width, right in front of the boat, window vertical scroll&scale. Same colors as echo. Updated every half a second in MaxSea Mode (speed base).

7.Forward looking Depth Profile : only available with 2D/3D Module, it Shows Forward Looking Depth Profile in right part of the window . The forward looking depth profile distance is fixed to 500m in front of the boat. See related topic : Forward looking Depth Profile

8.Tide corrected : the yellow line of the graph shows you the forward depth profile without tide correction unlike the blue filled graph which includes tide correction from nearest harbor. The graph and tide elevation are simultaneously updated when new GPS position is received.).

9.Y Axis : is the depth range

10.Temperature : is shown in the Depth Profile window as a red line when Sea Surface Temperature data information coming in from NMEA.

11.Cursor Location: shows simultaneously location where the cursor is on the chart zone area and along the depth profile outline. See related: Locate your cursor

12.GPS : represented by the boat symbol which extends to keel depth. See related topic : GPS Display

13.Keel Depth Extending: by default distance is equal to 0. See related topic to enter a value : Option: GPS and track
