The thesis investigates theoretical, organizational and legal background for labour payment under the market relations. The author has brought the existent concepts of labour payment into a system. A theoretical model of the national mechanism of labour payment regulation has been improved. Principles of labour payment have been extended and formulated. The stages in forming a legal labour payment mechanism in Ukraine have been defined. The level, dynamics, trends and problems concerning labour payment in Ukraine were assessed. The mechanism of labour payment regulation was analysed on the example of metallurgical enterprises.

The European experience in labour organization and regulation was analysesd, as well as the possibilities for its using in Ukraine. An econometric model of the existent mechanism of labour payment formation on a national, branch and regional levels was built. To improve labour payment in Ukraine, a conceptual framework is offered.
