DESCRIPTION:

(1) COPREP is a Mandatory Reporting System under SOlAS Regulation

V/11.

(2) Shore baSed lacilities at Roca Control are able to monitor shipping movements and provide improved advice and inl()lmation about navigational hazards and wealher conditions.

PROCEDURE:

(1) Participation in the Reporting Syst.;mJ is mandatory lor the ,ollowing:

(a) All vessels 01300 GT or above

(b) All vessels carrying dangerous. hazardous and/or potentially polluting cargo

(c) All passenger vessels

(d) Vessels engaged in towing or ~ushing where the combined length 01 the vessel and tow or pushed vessel is more than 100m LOA

(e) All fishing vessels of 24m LOA and over

(I) Any other type 01 vessel is illiited to voluntarily participate in the Reporting System

(2) Vessels required to participate in :he Reporting System shall make a report with the short title COPREP. to Roca ContrOl. The report should contain the following information:

(3) Vessels may elect. for reasons cf commercial confidentiality, to communicate information regarding cargo (designatcr P of the report) by non-verbal means prior to entering the Reporting System.

REPORTING:

(1) Vessels must submit a report as lot ows:

(a) On entering the reporting area

(b) Immediately aller leaving aport. terminal or anchorage sUuated in the reporting area

(c) When deviating lrom the route leading to the originally declared destination. port. terminal, anchorage or position "lor orders" given on entry into the reporting area

(d) When it becomes necessary to deviate Irom the planned route owing to weather conditions, damaged equipment or a change in navigational status

(e) On detecting anything that may affect the salety 01 navigation within the reporting area

(I) On finally leaving the reporting CIIea

(g) When requested by a COPREP operator

(2) Vessels that have submitted a voluntary report with the same designator leners prior to entering the reporting area are only required to submit amandatory report:

(a) If there are any changes in previously submitted information

(b) With designalor letters Aand Hwhen entering the reportilg area

(3) The language used lor communication shall be Portuguese or English. using the 100 Standard Marine Communications Phrases. where necessary.
