Daily routine
I usually get up at a quarter to seven. I make my bed and do my morning exercises. Then I go to the bathroom, take a cool shower, clean my teeth with a tooth-brush. This does not take me much time, not more than ten or fifteen minutes. Then I dress and sit down at the table to have my breakfast. I usually have a cup of tea or coffee, an egg and bread and butter. I love to listen to the latest news on the TV while I am eating.
After breakfast I go to the University. As I live far away, I go by bus. It takes me 20 minutes to go by bus. My lessons begin at 8.30 o’clock. I’m never late, I always come in time. We have lectures in different subjects every day. Sometimes it is very hard to wait till they end.
Usually I don’t miss my classes because I want to pass my exams successfully. But sometimes I do, especially when the weather is fine and the classes are boring.
As I cannot get home for lunch I have it in the dining-room of our University. For lunch I have meat or fish with potatoes and a cup of strong tea or coffee with a pie. At ten minutes to two the lessons are over and I go home. When I get home from the University, I have dinner. I have some soup, then some meat or fish. After dinner I help my mother about the house. Then I do my lessons. This usually takes me about two hours.
At eight or nine o’clock I have supper. I have some salad, a slice of sausage and bread, milk or serial. In the evening if I want to relax, I switch on any FM station and enjoy music or watch TV. If the programme is not interesting, I go to the cinema or to the theatre. Sometimes I go for a walk with my friends. We talk about different things and usually have a good time. At 11 o’clock I go to bed. I like to read something before going to bed.

Reading
Read the text. Is each person a ‘party animal’, a ‘culture vulture’ or a ‘couch potato’?
We asked these people about their typical Saturday. Here’s what they said:
I don’t like getting up early at the weekends so usually stay in bed late-sometimes until about 10.30a.m.! I absolutely love having a big breakfast on Saturdays. I can’t stand going to the gym or doing exercise but I sometimes go for a walk in the afternoon. I quite like meeting friends in the park or just lying on the grass and doing nothing. I’m not very keen on going out on Saturday evening. I stay in and chat on the phone and take- away pizza.
Mike, Poland
I really hate doing nothing so I get up early on Saturdays and start the day by checking my emails. I really like meeting friends and having breakfast in a café, so I catch a bus into town at about 9.00a.m. After breakfast, my friends and I sometimes go to an art gallery. I’m quite keen on most kinds of art so don’t mind which gallery we go to but my friends really hate modern art. I do different things on Saturday evenings. I sometimes have dinner with friends or I stay in and watch TV.
