In order to be successful in your specialty you should demonstrate good use of Information and Communi­cations Technology (ICT) for planning and data handling.

The aim of using ICT is to enhance your design and technology capability. You will not be penalised for non-use of ICT, although you should use it where appropriate and available.

When planning and data handling, good use of ICT may include using word-processing, databases, spreadsheets or CAD software for a range of activities that may include:

• organising and managing data

• production planning using colour-coded Gantt charts, diagrams or flowcharts

• producing manufacturing specifications

• producing accurate technical drawings

• working out quantities and costs of resources and products.
