Ex. 6. Прочитайте та запам’ятайте правила вживання Participle II:

Participle II (Past Participle ) являє собою:

V+ ed (правильних дієслів) — used, published.

3 Форма (неправильних дієслів) - built, broken.

ParticipleII відповідає в українській мові пасивним дієприкметникам минулого часу на -ан(ий), -ен(ий), -т(ий), а також підрядним означальним реченням.

У функції означення ParticipleIIвживається як перед іменником, так і після нього.

A broken cup lay on the table.Розбита чашка лежала на столі.

Bookspublishedforchildrenare usually well illustrated. Книги, які видаються для дітей, звичайно гарно ілюстровані.

У функції обставини ParticipleIIвживається в дієприк­метникових зворотах для вираження обставини причини, часу, умови та ін. У цьому випадку перед дієприкметни­ком іноді стоять сполучники when, while, if, as, though, although. Такі дієприкметникові звороти перекладають українською мовою, як правило, підрядними реченнями ( іноді сполученням «будучи + дієприкметник»).

ThoughexpectedonSundayheonlyarrived on Monday. Хоча його чекали в неділю,він приїхав тільки в понеділок. Icemeltswhenheated. Льод тоне, будучи нагрітим(коли його нагріють).

10. This is the house built many years ago.
