A. General and Specific Meanings

Sometimes the same word can have a general meaning and also a more specific, related meaning. Discuss the following italicized words.

1. What is a pilgrim? Who were the Pilgrims?

2. What does it mean to make a reservation at a hotel or restaurant? What is an Indian reservation? How are these word meanings related?

3. What is the general meaning of the word propose? What type of proposal is mentioned in the text?
