Упражнение 1. Поставьте существительные в форму множественного числа

Упражнение 2. а) выберите правильные значения следующих пар существительных:

б) Объясните самостоятельно разницу между следующими парами существительных и составьте с ними свои предложения.
Air – an air: воздух – внешний вид, выражение лица ; beauty – a beauty: красота - красавица; coffee – a coffee: кофе – чашка кофе; cloth – a cloth: полотно – скатерть; dinner – a dinner: обед – званый обед; fire – a fire: огонь – костер/камин/пожар; glass – a glass: стекло - стакан; light – a light: свет – огонек; nature – a nature: природа – характер; oak – an oak: дуб (древесина) – дуб (живое дерево); paper – a paper: бумага – газета; play – a play: игра – пьеса; rubber – a rubber: резина – ластик; ice – an ice: лед – льдинка, мороженое; stone – a stone: камень (материал) – камешек; study – a study: исследование, учеба – кабинет, студия; will – a will: воля – завещание
Упражнение 3. Как вы уже знаете, неопределенный артикль не употребляется с неисчисляемыми существительными. Вычеркните артикль там, где ему не место.

Упражнение 4. С существительными во множественном числе неопределенный артикль тоже не работает. Уберите его там, где ему быть не положено.
A headquarters, fungi; a fireman; passers-by; a disadvantage, a tooth; geese; mice; a deer; a formula; criteria; a room-mate; cattle; a council; clothes; a need; a vertebra; police; a cactus; a water-melon; a child; oxen; a datum
Упражнение 5. Постройте предложения из данных словосочетаний по заданной модели. Не забудьте: исчисляемому существительному нужен артикль, а неисчисляемому – ни в коем случае.

What a good question! – Какой хороший вопрос!

Упражнение 6. Дополните предложения глаголом to be в нужной форме (is / are)

All the furniture in this office is the latest design.

Упражнение 7. Переведите эти несложные предложения на английский язык. Обратите внимание на глагол-связку (to be) и артикли.

Эти советы очень полезны. This advice is very useful.
Это принцесса. Ее волосы светлые и длинные. Это ведьма. Ее волосы седые и всклокоченные. This is a princess. Her hair is fair and long. This is a witch. Her hair is grey and spiky.
Его одежда – в основном джинсы, свитера и майки. His clothes are mainly sweaters, jeans and T-shirts.
Полиция уже здесь. The police are already here.
Бильярд – любимая игра пиратов. Billiards is the pirates’ favourite game.
Хорошие джинсы – дорогие. Good jeans are expensive.
Упорный труд – ключ к успеху. Hard work is a key to success.
Это творческая работа, однако знания здесь тоже очень важны. This is creative work but knowledge is also very important here.
Осторожно, лестница очень крутая. Watch(look) put! The stairs are very steep.
