1 Спутниковая связь – один из видов радиосвязи, основанный на использовании искусственных спутников земли в качестве ретрансляторов.
2 Спутниковая связь осуществляется между земными станциями, которые могут быть как стационарными, так и подвижными.
3 Спутниковая связь является развитием традиционной радио-релейной связи путем вынесения ретранслятора на космическую орбиту.
4 Для передачи через спутник сигнал должен быть модулирован.
5 Модулированный сигнал усиливается, переносится на нужную частоту и поступает на передающую антенну.
6 Нерегенеративный спутник, приняв сигнал от одной земной станции, переносит его на другую частоту, усиливает и передает другой земной станции.
7 Регенеративный спутник производит демодуляцию принятого сигнала и заново модулирует его.

Оптоволокно
Оптоволокно – это стеклянная или пластиковая нить, используемая для переноса света внутри себя посредством полного внутреннего отражения. Оптоволокна используют в волоконно-оптических кабелях связи (ВОК), которые позволяют передавать цифровую информацию на большие расстояния и с более высокой скоростью передачи данных, чем по электрическим кабелям связи.
Простой принцип действия позволяет использовать различные методы, дающие возможность создавать самые разнообразные оптоволокна:
одномодовые оптоволокна;
мультимодовые оптоволокна;
оптоволокна с градиентным показателем преломления;
оптоволокна со ступенчатым профилем распределения показателей преломления.
Из-за физических свойств оптоволокна необходимы специальные методы для их спайки и соединения с оборудованием. Оптоволокна являются базой для различных типов кабелей, в зависимости от того, где они будут использоваться.
Волоконно-оптические кабели могут быть использованы как для дальней связи, так и построения компьютерной сети, вследствие своей гибкости и возможности завязываться в узел. Несмотря на то, что волокна могут быть сделаны из пластичного оптоволокна или силика-гелиевого волокна, волокна, использующиеся в ВОК для передачи информации на большие расстояния, всегда сделаны из стекла, из-за низкого оптического ослабления электромагнитного излучения. В связи используются многомодовые и одномодовые оптоволокна; мультимодовое оптоволокно обычно используется на небольших расстояниях (до 500 м), а одномодовое оптоволокно – на длинных дистанциях.
