.pdfber 2007 we marked the 35 anniversary of he University's birth, the center of science of our Republic.
The teaching staff is 646. Among the teaching staff there are 70 professors and 330 assistant professors. There are 18 faculties: the Faculty of History, Languages and Literature, the Department of International relationship, Cultural and Art's Department, Physics and Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry, the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Economics, the Law Faculty, Agro-technological Institute, Institute of open education.
Besides day departments there is an extra-mural departments for part-time students who study at the University without leaving their jobs at plants, on farms and various institutions.
Extra-mural training suits the people who live and work far from the University. They are given instructions how to study and they work on their own. Twice a year they come to the University to attend lectures or classes and to take their exams.
The applicants go for entrance exams in July before the new academic year begins. If the applicants want to have a good command of the subjects in which they will take exams, they attend preliminary courses.
During the academic year the students of our University have different kinds of work: they listen to the lectures, have discussions, laboratory work. Apart from the main subjects, students of all departments follow courses in the History of Motherland, Philosophy, Economic Theory and take one the foreign languages: English, German, French.
Most of the students get only good and excellent marks in all subjects. Almost all of them are given state grants.
The students of our University have everything necessary for their studies. There are all kinds of laboratories equipped with modern apparatus and instruments where the students carry out various experiments. They have at their disposal a rich library and a large reading room which supply students with books, text-books, instructions, literature on special subjects and so on.
They carry on research at different departments of the University and the results of their work often find practical application.
Sports play an important part in the physical training of students. There are many sports sections where the students go in for sports. Some of them train themselves in volley-ball, others in basket-ball or swimming. In winter most of them go in for skiing or skating. The students of our University often take part in different competitions.
The graduates of our University work at schools, at different factories, laboratories, farms and offices.
The students of our University live a full life both academically and culturally.

Russia (the official name - the Russian Federation) is the largest country in the world. The country is situated both in Europe and Asia. Its total area is over 17 mln. sq. km.

Our land is washed by 12 seas, most of which are the seas of 3 oceans: the Arctic, the Atlantic and the Pacific. In the south and in the west the country borders oil 14 states. It also has a sea-border with the USA.
The country has a great variety of flora and fauna. There are numerous forests, plains and steppes, taiga and tundra, highlands and deserts in our land. The highest mountains are the Altai, the Urals, and the Caucasus. There are over 2 mln rivers in the Russian Federation. The longest of them are the Volga, the Ob, the Yenisei, the Lena and the Amur. Our land is also rich in various lakes. Baikal is the deepest lake in the world.
On the Russian territory there are 11 time zones. The climate conditions are rather different: from arctic and mild to continental and subtropical. Our country is one of the richest in natural resources countries in the world: oil, natural gas, coal, different ores of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and other minerals. It is one of the highly developed agro-industrial powers in the world. The main industrial branches are machine-building, aircraft, aerospace, automobile, textile, chemical and others.
The Russian Federation is a multinational state. It comprises many national districts, several autonomous republics and regions. The population of the country is about 150 mln. More than 100 different nations and nationalities live in the Russian Federation.
Moscow is the capital of our Motherland. Its population is over 10 mln people. It is the largest political, scientific, cultural and industrial center of the country and one of the most beautiful cities.
