Sport facilities and accommodation
The students are provided with all necessary sports facilities, modern study rooms, lecture halls and well-equipped laboratories. They practice different sports in 12 sport halls, 2 swimming pools, a large game room for basketball, volleyball and handball, a football pitch, a shooting gallery, a rowing and sailing base. Education – scientific complex ‘Manege’, a computing centre are at their disposal too.
The students accommodate in 2 modern halls of residence, which are located not far from the University. Sports grounds, a stadium, a sports complex and swimming-pools, a student’s cafeteria, a medical service centre, a library and reading-halls are in a walk distance. Students have the possibility to travel and to have a rest in picturesque places of Krasnodar Region: Caucasian Mountains and the Black Sea shore, where the University’s sanitary-sports complex is situated. On the territory of the city of Krasnodar there is a great number of places for students leisure and rest.
Science and scientific priorities
The University rates as a large scientific methodical centre in the south of Russia. Scientific researches reflect urgent problems in the field of physical culture and sport. This field of the University activity coordinates tasks of scientific research and fulfills effective training of candidates and doctors of science for various fields of education and science.
The list of scientific specialties at Post-graduate and Doctorate Studies includes: Theory and methodology of physical education, sport training, adaptive and health-related physical education (pedagogical and psychological sciences); Physiology (biological sciences); Rehabilitation Medicine, Sport Medicine, Health and Spa Resorts, Physiotherapy; Theory and Method of Professional Training; Biomechanics; Pedagogical Psychology.
The University is also responsible for scientific-methodological provision of Russian national teams in taekwondo, trampoline and handball (men).
Employment opportunities
Today there is a growing demand for specialists in the sphere of physical culture and sport, physical fitness, and rehabilitation. The students gain a bachelor’s degree in physical culture and sport plus a diploma in physical education teaching and coaching. The graduates of the University work as teachers of physical education at educational establishments of different types, as coaches in some sport, as physical fitness and rehabilitation instructors, then as teacher-instructors in tourism, as instructor - methodologists in pre-school physical education, as managers and economists in different spheres of sports and physical training activity, as practical psychologists etc.
The Centre of language training (clt)
The urgency of good foreign language knowledge caused the establishment of the Centre of Language Training attached to the department of foreign languages. The opening of the centre allowed the students to deepen their knowledge in a foreign language and get an extra education “Translator in the sphere of professional communication”. Students studying at the CLT take an active part in foreign work programmes abroad and do it successfully, win prizes in different linguistic contests, etc. But it is the most important thing that students apply their knowledge of a foreign language in their professional activity.
At present, the students contingent numbers 400 persons, whereas 70 of them master an extra education course ”Translator in the sphere of professional communication”. Now there is a new trend in the work of the CLT – foreign language training of volunteers for XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games Sochi 2014.
