The Enterprise "Gasprom production Orenburg" has been developing the Orenburg oil and gas condensate field beginning with 1974. The field is still a primary source of raw material, providing gas chemical complex with hydrocarbons, in spite of the fact that its reserves have been considerably worked out. In 1979 the Karachaganak gas condensate field, unique for its reserves, was discovered. The Orenburg gas processing plant began to receive and treat the Karachaganak gas. The Orenburg gas processing plant is the largest subdivision of "Gasprom production Orenburg". The plant is science intensive, power-consuming and computerized. All kinds of activities, performed at the plant, are certified. All marketable products were certified on a voluntary basis, and industrial standards, technical specifications and agreements, and are competitive at the world market as well as at the domestic one.

The experts of the gas processing plant, together with research institutions, have solved a number of technological problems, concerned with gas and condensate treatment, such as: the absorbents DEA and "Novamin", zeolites, process catalysts "Klaus" of domestic production were tested and put into operation, replacing imported reactants; the plant can operate at low pressure and high temperature of natural gas; the complex program of the environmental conditions improvement is being carried out; electrical oil dehydrator and electrical desalting plant (ELOU) were designed and constructed.
