Polymer science is an interdisciplinary area comprised of chemical,
physical, engineering, processing, and theoretical aspects. It also has enormous

impact on contemporary materials science. Its goal is to provide the basis for
the creation and characterization of polymeric materials and an understanding
for structure/property relationships.
Polymer science is of increasing importance for everyone's daily life.
Many modern functional materials, gears, and devices have polymers as
integral parts. Not surprisin gly, roughly 30% of all scientists in the chemical
industry work in the field of polymers. Despite its importance today and
potential for future economic growth, there is no adequate university-level
study program for polymer science in Russia.
Graduate students in polymer chemistry select their courses from a
range of offerings in chemistry, chemical engineering, mathematics, physics,
and other appropriate areas. Special topics in a spectr um of polymer fields are
offered or can be arranged in consultation with the faculty.
Research is an essential component of any graduate degree program in
polymer chemistry. The joint Master's program in Polymer Technology provides
students with the comprehensive tools needed to develop future materials for
advanced health car e , e nergy production, gr een pac kaging, surface c oat in gs, a nd
many other applications.
Students study at two universities, graduate with a double degree and
acquire comprehensive skills is polymer technology. The program was

One of the most important i ndicators of a society’s development is the
portion of manual labor in t he technological process of manufacturing goods,
products and services. As early as half a century ago, no industry could operate
without human intervention: one of the main elements was a worker who
operated various equipment and machines.
The modern society does it all much safer and faster, because the

modern industry makes use of automated systems and industrial robots.
The Institute of Automated Control Systems and Information
Technologies was established on the basis of the faculty of Computer Science,
it also includes IT-department of the Institute of International Educational
Programs and the faculty of Management and Information Technology.
Measures of education quality in the Institute of Automated Control
Systems and Information Technologies include: fundamentality and the
knowledge of modern technologies, open learning and access to global
information resources, practical skills and job provision after graduation.
The Institute graduates developers of modern information
technologies, computer equipment, and cybernetic systems. The basis of
educational process is a profound fundamental training in such areas as
modern computer science, informatics and programming, microelectronics,
information security, automatic control systems, systems analysis and
management, distributed computing and computer networks, information
and measurement technology, environmental monitoring systems, computer
mathematics and modeling, electronic object protection systems.
The purpose of master programs within this major is to train elite
multi-skilled specialists in the field of automation and control systems, who
are well aware of the whole range of complex engineering, capable of
developing the existing and creating new control and automation systems,
organize business, and the specialists who make up the leading staff of
small and medium business (industries) in the field of automated systems,
robotics, and information technologies. This group of people encompasses
administrative and technical directors of companies, senior project
managers for development and implementation of automated systems and
information technologies, managers and section heads of relevant
companies.
In course of the two years’ training, the students with the major in
control in engineering systems will receive additional knowledge and skills,
necessary for successful development of the elements and devices of
automation and control systems, robotic systems, their modeling,
experimental research, and the development of control tasks solution
algorithms. The main activity of the graduates will be as follows:
- Develop the theory and methods of the design of automation and
control systems elements and dev ices.
- Develop the algorithms and programs for the operation of automation
and control systems.

Modern automation and control systems are as a rule territorially
distributed complex information control systems with centralized
monitoring and control, based on industrial hardware and software. Their
main components include the following:
- Local systems for automated monitoring and control.
- Technical workstations.
- Various purpose servers.
- Programmable industr ial controllers.
- Local controlling computing networks.
Local automated control and monitoring systems, programmable industrial
controllers, technical workstations, and servers are integrated into one whole
system with the help of local controlling computing networks. The software of the
automation and control systems uses special languages of programmable industrial
controllers, SCADA-system technology, and real time databases.
While designing automation and control systems, great attention is paid
to security issues and making fail-proof control systems that would ensure
emergency prevention and stop technological processes.
For a successful completion of a principal academic master program, an
applicant must possess the knowledge in the respective domain in the scope
stipulated by the state education standards for higher education and a stateissued higher education document (degree) of at least bachelor’s level.
Those willing to complete master programs shall be enrolled based on
the results of their admission examination in the academic disciplines selected
by the administering department.
