Kazan National Research Technological University is one of the oldest universities in Kazan. Its history dates back to 1890 when the Ministry of Public Education of the Russian Empire enacted t he resolution t o establish the

Integrated Industrial and T echnical College. In 1919 it was transfor med into Kazan Polytechnic Institute and it was 1930, when its che mical facul ty and the chemical faculty of Kazan State University formed the basis for Kazan Chemical Technolog ical I n stitute. R ap id d ev e lopme nt o f institute resu lted in its obtaining university status in 1992, when its official name changed to Kazan State Technological University. Versatile activities and success in various priority areas made Kazan State Technological University one of Russian centres in engineering education, research, and innovations.
Another milestone in the history of our university is the year 2010, when our university obtained the status of a National Research University and was renamed into Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRT U) i n
2011. The leading university in petroleum gas chemical complex and light industry complex educational clusters of the region, Kazan National Research Technological University integrates education and innovations in these fields in the Republic of Tatarstan. The University comprises 14 academic and research institutes and 3 branches; runs over 150 Specialist, Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree and Ph.D. programs; enrols over 26 thousand under graduate and graduate students, 900 Ph.D . and 100 Post-Doc students from Russia and other countries; employs over 300 Full Professors, Doctors of Science and 1100 Associate Professors, Ph.D.s.
Kazan National Research Technological University international partnership network comprises 136 universities and research organizations from 37 countries in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa. The partner institutions of Kazan National Research Technological University are 24 universities, research centres, and international educat ional organizations i n 13 countries. The University is one of the 6 Russian Universities, which are members of Eurasia Pacific University Network (UNINET).
The results of applied research are implemented and further commercialized at the University pilot plants, business incubators, innovation testing grounds, and technology transfer centre. Active contribution of Kazan National Research Technological U niversity to the develop ment of innovative infrastructure in the Republic of Tatarstan resulted in granting funding for construction of the Industrial Innovation & Commercialization Park Himgrad created for chemical and petrochemical purposes.
According to The Ministry of education and science of Russia, KNRTU is number 10 in the rating among 159 technical universiti es of the country. In the rating, which was compiled by the order of The Mi nistry of Educati on and Science of Russia - KNRTU is nu mber 31-32 among 405 universities of the countries of CIS, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

According to the indicator of educational activity in this rating, KNRTU is in TOP-50 and in TOP-30 by research activity. KNRTU is number 24 among the universities of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. KNRTU is the only University in Tatarstan, which signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with S kolkovo Innovation Cent re in 2010. This opens new prospects for innovation development of KNRTU and Republic of Tatarstan.

Research at Kazan National Research Technological University is based on long-lasting traditions of excellence in chemistry and technology Kazan and Russia has been proud of the last two centuries. Kazan National Research Technological University has received the State Prize of Russia and Tatarstan several times for the advances in science and engineering.
