Вопросы в косвенной речи имеют прямой порядок слов – такой как в утвердительных предложениях. В косвенной речи употребляются общие и специальные вопросы. Косвенные вопросы

вводятся в речь при помощи слов и выражений ask, inquire (более официальный вариант слова ask), want to know, I wonder, would like to know, can you tell me.

Общие косвенные вопросы присоединяются к главному предложению (словам автора) при помощи союзов if и whether (они соответствуют в русском языке частице «ли»), перед этими союзами запятая не ставится.
